Retailer say's they are leaving the plaza! But why?

"JGoewert said...
As a retailer in Crestwood Mall, the rumor around there is that it is closing entirely as of Jan 15. Now that Dillards is leaving and Macy's is following suit. Small shops have 67 out of 150 vacancies... and the mall is really snippy when I try to talk with them.

My lease is over next month and I am out as well. No more tax money for you."

JGoewert, First of all the Plaza will not be closing in January, that's an "urban legend." Second, I also am told that Macy's will not be leaving any time soon either! Have you noticed that Sears is spending big bucks to renovate their store (near Dillard's?) Again, I seriously doubt that K-Mart / Sears would spend a dime knowing it was all for naught!

I spoke to the City Administrator, Mr. Frank Myers, as well as the Board of Alderman president, and I can tell you that if you will send me a private message via E-mail (it will be kept confidential) they will pay you a personal call to see what they can do to assist you! I will also be in attendance (if you wish,) as I promised to buy lunch for you, and I don't want you to think I was kidding!

I have lived here for 38 years, and I can tell you that Crestwood is a wonderful place to open, run, and grow a business! I know the economy is not what the pundents say it it is (I am in the HVAC business) but all things change, and I plan to be in the front of the line when it happens, will you please join me, and remain in Crestwood?

Crestwood Pointe TDD board to meet Sept. 26, at 2:00 PM at City Hall.

Ladies and Gentlemen, the Crestwood Pointe TDD board meeting is now scheduled for 2:00 PM on Wednesday September 26 at in the BOA chambers. This is supposed to be the meeting when the TDD board members vote to give the $295,000.00 to THF Realty for the property that was transferred from Rosebrook Realty Co (AKA swim club,) to the City for parking spaces.

By the way this was all done through affidavits, and not a contract, or deed transfer. So if you, like some of us think this is ridiculous please join us at the meeting. After all this is coming from the 1% extra sales tax at Kohl's, and is funds the City should be getting, not the developer to reimburse his purchase of a private pool.

It's our money here folks, so please make the time to come to the meeting and let the board know exactly how you feel about it!

Crestwood has some great properties, retail, manufacturing for rent.

Please click on the header to be directed to the site that shows what we have in Crestwood for the businessman!

These are the things Ms. Brown has to work with, and we should be helping her in every way we can. If you know someone who want to open a store or start a business that requires floor space and a great location with a super work force, tell them about Crestwood!

Ladies and Gentlemen, instead of just saying we need more retail / manufacturing, let's see what we can do to help. Were all in this together, so what say we "get er done!"

Interesting in that some of the things are not quite what was said (so I am told by the people involved,) but interesting none the less!

Westfield and Crestwood to meet to iron out differences.

As much as I hate to say it, I believe "I told you so" on this one! A few post's back I was roundly criticised for saying we shouldn't telegraph our intentions reference "development tools."

Well, a lot of people dis-agreed saying we should be on the attack, and tell them what were going to do. They of course prevailed, and now what do we have?

I pray that this can be worked out between all parties, and soon.

FLASH!!! CRESTWOOD POINTE TDD MEETING CANCELLED!

Ladies and Gentlemen, I just received a call from City Hall telling me that the TDD bond meeting (Crestwood Pointe TDD) has been cancelled due to the inability of participants (other than us) to gather all the figures together!

I will advise you of the date when it's re-set in the future, but I am told it will be at lease 7-10 days from now.

Interesting that after all this time the bond attorneys, the bond sales firm and the developer still haven't got it ready to present. One asks the musical question "Now what?"

Steelers 34 Browns 7! And the "LAM's Loose!"

The bride of the Crestwood Independent can fly her flag a bit higher this week folk's as our football team wins again! Now why would we like the Steelers you say living in St. Louis? Well, they are a "blue collar," running team playing the old fashioned "smash mouth football!"

Of all the teams in the NFL, that's the one that represents our beliefs the most! We never back down, we run straight ahead at a problem, we overcome adversity, and we never quit!

That said, we came from "blue collar" Steel town's (Pittsburgh, and Cleveland, and were proud of it,) where people knew how to work hard, and play hard! I never saw a "quitter, or a shirker" growing up as a kid, nor did my wife!

The reason for this rant? Well let's just say that the petty problems of Crestwood can, and will be overcome, and we will all be better for it!

St. Charles County executive regrets TIF for "Noah's Ark"

Please click on the header to be directed to a story in the Post Dispatch today reference a TIF for the redevelopment area known as "Noah's Ark."

This is relevant here as we also may face the same prospect at the "Plaza" if were not careful!

You will note that not only the city, county, and others loose funds for 23 years, it also effects the school district (that is the major part of our tax bills!)

So, what do you think?
