re you sure that you really want to be an alderman? The personal and
real estate property tax increase which will be on the April 4, 2006
ballot is $0.20 per $100 of assessed valuation not $0.24. I'd sure not
like to see you dealing with a multi million dollar city budget if you
can't get the simple major money issue facing voters correct, especially
after you attended a meeting of distinguished Crestwood citizens to
learn specifically about this tax increase. By the way are actively
supporting this major tax increase in your campaign?

Thank's for the correction! Your keen observation was just what I needed to correct my error.

I guess your last question was Am I supporting the "Mayors tax increase" in my campaign? Well, first of all it's not only the Mayor, but all eight Alderman, the C/A, and for all we know, my worthy opponent who support it (we know his friends do).

I do support it, and I am sure that once you have a chance to hear it properly explained, you will also.

Last, but not least, Yes I do want to be an Alderman, one who is not afraid to admit his mistakes (unique in Ward Two), and is willing to listen to others. I know of only one entity who is never wrong, and he dosen't live in Crestwood!

My name is JACQUELINE ( JACQUE ) STOCK...I am a long time
resident and have participated in many and various activities. Let the record
show that I think that there should NOT be any anonymous articles on the
BLOG. If the person is not willing to be identified, then stay out of the
issues. What has happened to common sense.? ALSO....unless the
person has attended the "meeting"....they should NOT write about a
meeting. We all need to become better informed and participate in our
local affairs. We really do have the time....BUSY is a state of mind!

I agree with Mr. Ford's decision to allow anonymous views to be posted. For some, it is a matter of preferring not to be confronted by overzealous neighbors with an opposing view, and for some, it may be a much deeper matter, such as employees of the City who have an opportunity to share an opinion with a prospective alderman.

This is a good forum, and one of the best aspects is the ability to remain anonymous. How many people would vote if their choices were public knowledge?

If someone became a little too passionate about their feelings and offended some...well, that's the nature of people participating in an open forum like this.

And for some it may be social or religious settings in which we do not want to be confronted. Those are the two taboos: religion and politics.

REGARDING RELIGION and POLITICS.....If that is your viewpoint , then
I interpret that to mean you may be hiding behind those issues!! Why would
anyone present two different impressions...the one people WANT to hear
and the one the person really thinks therefore we do NOT
know WHAT that person really thinks! Jacque S

I would like to personally thank Tom Ford for posting the Prop S information on the Blog for all to see. And appreciate that he is stepping forward as a future BOA member to support this much needed tax increase. The Prop S Committee, which I enthusiastically support, is working around the clock to educate Crestwood residents about the facts. We hope that our attempts to provide this information will help Crestwood voters make a more informed decision on April 4. We believe in this City and want to be proud again of our neighborhood. While property value is important, we feel that peace of mind and caring neighbors has a value that cannot be measured. We understand that it is not popular to ever support a tax increase, we feel it is vital at this time to do so. We are residents, just like you who have a stake in Crestwood -- and we want to make it better.

One sender thinks blogs should not be anonymous. Imagine there are 2 schools of thought on that. There are lots of ways to support ones ideas or government: Letters to the Editor, attending meetings, serving on boards, contacting ones officials, campaigning, spreading the good word, working behind the scenes, being an upright resident and utilizing a blog site among others. These are all options and should be welcome and invited and encouraged. As long as the site functions as a way to exchange ideas and it is neither vulger, unpatriotic, criminal or intentionally deceptive in intent, one can only hope that in this information and opinion exchange everyone has equal opportunity for expression - signed or unsigned, passionate or not. I don't think there is a right or wrong here, this is a new world, blogs are part of this new world. If one is ultra sensitive, perhaps a blog is not for them.

Some people are basically bashful but want to participate, a form of stagefright. Restricting this kind of blog to "signed only" could cause it to dry up. I will sign blogs and attend meetings of my own accord. I don't feel the personal need for a sermon on the matter, but since it is an opinion, this is a great place to express it.

I don't think people on a site entitled "Crestwood Independent" see a need to discuss religion in this particular venue. As for politics, it is not all that hard to tell the crackpots from the sincere. If it seems someone is hiding behind something, then here is your chance to respond. Sure, it can get testy, but it is the nature of the beast. Take away from it what you will. This is not a deposition, it is an open forum as mentioned by another sender. Enter at your own risk.

Maybe Mr. Pickel feels like he already has won his aldermanic seat so he doesn't need to answer anything or put out information to anybody.

All he has to do is have his workers get a list of names from his church, and the Crestwood Swim Club. Then his work is just about already done for him.

Why answer to those of us who are of the lower echelon, when you have clout with people who will just vote for you because of where you worship and where you socialize.

We don't count!

What exactly does the poster mean "of the lower echelon" --does that mean there is an "upper echelon" in Crestwood. Give me a break.
