ELECTION DAY, APRIL 4th,2006!!

Ladies and Gentlemen of Ward Two, and indeed crestwood. Tomorrow is the day we can all exercise our right to vote, we have seen the photo's from Iraq showing voters who stood in line for hours just for their chance, and came away proudly with the purple badge of courage on their finger!

It has been a hot and heavily contested race in Ward Two (as, I am sure were the others.) Citizens of Crestwood have filled this "blog" with comments covering everything from the police building to who knows what. At times both sides were more than emotional about issues they were passionate about, but that's America! The founding fathers fought over the Constitution for years before ratifying it, so the time spent here discussing our issues is small indeed.

On April 5th.,2006 some of the candidates, will have prevailed at the ballot box, and some will not. The ones that do will need all of our support, prayers, and assistance to bring our town through the problems it faces, and move ahead to bigger and better things.

We have had our differences during this election, and we may always have differences, it happens, that's one reason there are different parties, and different personalities running for office. We all love Crestwood, or we would have moved out, or never moved in in the first place. As I said above, on April 5th. We must put aside our differences, and work with the Mayor, Mr. Meyers, and the new board members period. To that end, I am requesting that should Mr. Pickel be elected, my supporters join me in offering whatever assistance he needs to do his job well. If I should be elected, I would likewise ask for his support as well.

This "blog" will continue on after the election, it has been a vehicle that allows our citizens with a computer the opportunity to articulate their feelings, and ask the questions they are interested in. Is it a perfect tool? No, probably not, as no one knows how many contributions are from whom, and how many citizens are using it. I can tell you that in the last fifty one days we have had over 8494 hits, or a average of 166.54 per day. Are they the same people? There is no way to tell, but it is being read by someone. I hope to use this blog (as it gets better known,) as a tool for Crestwood citizens to put forth their ideas, their concerns, and help the City officials decide what's best for Crestwood.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to thank you for all of your posts to me, positive, and negative over the past three month's. This campaign has been a learning experience for me (your never to old,) and I have met some of the nicest people in St. Louis County, namely Crestwood residents on both sides of the political fence. I thought I knew what a campaign would be like, but I can assure you I had no idea. I do now, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world!

Good luck to ALL of the candidates tomorrow, may we have a turn out that rivals the mayoral race (54%), and by the grace of God---------MAY CRESTWOOD WIN!!

When you get in office, can you please initiate an ordinance for Sappington House as suggested by Larry Pevnick, a forensic accountant hired by former City Administrator Don Greer.

Is it true that Sappington House staff spent $12,000 on advertising in 2005?
Is it true they have about $450,000 or more in their budget?
Will there be an additional parking lot built next to the Sappington House for the Katy Trail visitors with a $50,000 biodegradable portable bathroom that similar to the Oakland park bathroom facilities?http://www.ci.crestwood.mo.us/docs/agendas_minutes/boa/2005_03_08/05-03-08.pdf
March 8 BOA minutes on March 8,2005

on page 6 from Forensic Acccountant
He(Larry Pevnick) stated that BSW (Brown Smith and Wallace) recommended that the City monitor the activity of the Sappington House periodically. Mr. Pevnick stated that on the smaller accounts it is probably not
necessary but the Sappington House has a fair amount of assets that have been accumulated in prior years and it does impact the new accounting standards by making the City responsible for those funds. Alderman Trueblood asked if staff had the ability to write checks for the account of Sappington House. Mr. Pevnick said they do not that it has a separate cash account and separate signatures are required. He stated that staff would have to get the bank
statements from Sappington House. Mr. Pevnick stated that this was
put in place by ordinance many years ago. Alderman Trueblood asked if that is something that should be reviewed. Mr. Pevnick stated that it might be something that the Board would want to look into.

thanks for running for office

About Sappington House... This is the Sappington House Foundation. It is Foundation that was set up when the complex was handeded over to the City for maintenace. As with Foundations, what it can do with its money is restricted by the legal documents that set it up. Advertising is one of the items that Foundation money can be used for.

to writer of 4:12pm. Sir or madam, you do know that now that you have given the facts as many of it know them, you will be called a lot of bad things. There are those who stand to be in deep dodo if the facts become known. And basically, I feel people here don't want anybody to know anything and if you are guilt of reading the Pevnick report, they'll crucify you. Tongue in cheek here. Thank you!

Have you heard that one of our candidates (the one with the very large and very expensive flyers) didn't bother to put a disclaimer on his flyers? I guess you don't have time for everything (such as posing for pictures). But the rich kids in town won't mind that, they're used to being extragavant!

Please say a prayer before you go to bed for all of the City of Crestwood candidates. I will turn over everything to Jesus.

I will pray to the Father, Holy Spirit and to Jesus to give us great leadership and allow our government to be open, honest, and transparent to all citizens.

Stress Management

A lecturer, when explaining stress management to an audience, raised a
glass of water and asked,

"How heavy is this glass of water?"

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g.

The lecturer replied, "The absolute weight doesn't matter.

It depends on how long you try to hold it.

If I hold it for a minute, that's not a problem.

If I hold it for an hour, I'll have an ache in my right arm.

If I hold it for a day, you'll have to call an ambulance.

In each case, it's the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier
it becomes."

He continued, "And that's the way it is with stress management.

If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes

increasingly heavy, we won't be able to carry on. "

"As with the glass of water, you have to put it down for a while and rest
before holding it again.

When we're refreshed, we can carry on with the burden."

"So, before you return home tonight, put the burden of work down.

Don't carry it home.

You can pick it up tomorrow.

Whatever burdens you're carrying now, let them down for a moment if you can."

So, my friend, why not take a while to just simply RELAX.

Put down anything that may be a burden to you right now.

Don't pick it up again until after you've rested a while.

Life's too short!

Enjoy it!

Here are some great ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

* Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you're the statue.

* Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

* Always read stuff that will make you look good if you die in the middle of it.

* If you can't be kind, at least have the decency to be vague.

* If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it

* It may be that your sole purpose in life is simply to serve as a warning to others.

* Never buy a car you can't push.

* Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, because then you won't have a leg to stand on.

* Nobody cares if you can't dance well. Just get up and dance.

* Since it's the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

* The second mouse gets the cheese.

* When everything's coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.

* Birthdays are good for you. The more you have, the longer you live.

* You may be only one person in the world, but you may also be the world to one person.

* Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once.

* We could learn a lot from crayons...Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull.
Some have weird names, and all are different colors, but they all have to live in the same box.

*A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery on a detour.

little minds to shrink; but he whose heart is firm and whose conscience
approves his conduct will pursue his principles unto death." -- Thomas Paine

So, here we are, some of us at the beginning, others at the end. Tomorrow will be undoubtedly one of the most memorial days in Crestwood's history.

I would wish we can all agreethat each of us truly wants whats best for all of us. When you consider how different we are from each other, it's amazing that we get along as well as we do. Someone once said that in conflict either fight or flight, but we don't do that anymore, it's too uncivilized The blog has been a good tool in that it certainly let us vent our feelings.

At 7pm tomorrow night the die will be cast. Four of our friends and neighbors will be named winners. Our four new aldermen will be subjected to more surveillance and pressure than probably any alderman before him. The sins of
the past, whether you think them real or imagined, will be bestowed upon them with a vengence. People here are saying this can never happen again. Each alderman will be expected to do his/her fair share of the checking and real problem solving. There will be no more overlooking things as there was before. As I vote for my choice of alderman tomorrow it will be with mixed emotions. I know what these men have in store for them and I have a pang of sorry knowing what they've inherited.

In all sincerity, I will try to support who ever wins. I will always ask question when I don't understand why things are done a certain way. My father taught me that you can only respect those who earn it. So bottom line: good luck, do your best to respect us and we'll do the same for you.

Thank you, Faye Clark

As of 7:05 p.m.:

Mr. Pickel leads Mr. Ford 172-105.

In Ward 1, Richard Bland leads Darryl Wallach by a slim margin of 122-107.

In Ward 4, Steve Nieder has a sizeable lead over Charles Berry with 240-142.

And Prop S is winning 796-478.

I guess we can say the phrases Alderman Pickel and Alderman Nieder and get used to paying more property taxes to get us out of debt (hoorah!).

With Ward 1, we'll just have to wait it out. Here's hoping we're all saying Alderman Bland tomorrow.

The crestwoodindependent pseudonym baffles me. How can one be "independent" when one is a charter member of the organized CCFR political group??? It just doesn't ring true to me.

uhh - you realize it makes no sense to say you never said anything about a recall and then say you only said a recall was possible? I hope you people continue your ridiculous attempts to manipulate the system - your stupid stunt about the charter vote cost you lots of votes. keep on keepin on - we'll get ourselves a new mayor that much sooner.

New catch phrase is up there now. And I must tell you "I would never be a member of any club that would have me as a member" Groucho Marx.

Thank's for reminding me to change it.
