As an old Sonny and Cher song lyrics once said "The beat goes on"!

Folks it seems that some of our residents (as the old saw has it,) "went to the fights last night, and an Aldermanic meeting broke out"!

It would seem that a 4-4 tie once again reared it's ugly head when it came to vote for the president of the BOA. Well we have seen this before (last meeting,) so what's the problem? Ah, well it also seems that a concerned citizen came forth to the lecturn to nominate another Alderman other than the two in nomination. This is said to have caused some consternation, and in fact some laughter from the audience.

Now, it is not clear as to who was laughing at whom, as there were two people up there at the time, but a least one of them was not happy, and let his feelings be known to a couple on the floor. This caused one of the two on the floor to rise to challenge the one who felt "dissed", and apparently caused Mayor Robinson to call a halt to the squabble!

All that said, "I fear all we have done is to awaken a sleeping giant" (the Call,) and fill it's pages with more negative thoughts about Crestwood. The post of Alderman requires some civility, as well as respect for the views of others as well.

I look to Mr. Pickel to show the leadership needed in Ward Two to call a halt to this petty bickering, and move Crestwood forward!

Congratulations to MR. Jerry Miguel on his being elected to the position of Board president! May your term be one of prosperous times for Crestwood!

Maybe Mr. Kelleher and Dr. Brophy have been consulting with Overland Mayor Ann Purzner. Now that would make residents of Crestwood proud, Tom!

The past Alderman LaBore had said that on occassion during the BOA discussions, his stance on issues have been "changed/modified" (for the good of Crestwood). What happened at the BOA meeting regarding the selection of the BOA president is an example of how that could have worked.

Alderman Breeding himself said he just wanted to abstain from voting just to move forward. Weren't some of the comments made regarding why the Alderman were choosing the BOA president enough to pick Alderman Dewe. Comments regarding both Alderman were very constructive.

Breeding's comment just goes to show you the politics on the Board.

When will our Mayor Robinson play by the Roberts Rules of Order?

Why does our Mayor Robinson allow such immature behavior by an Alderman? All this does is divide our city.

Now more than ever we need to help each other rebuild our city.

It never occurred to me when I read about shenanignas going on in other berbs that with time, Crestwood would join in. Try as I may, and hope as I will; I sense a continuing vindictive dynamic steadily at work on the city board, overtly fostered by a former City Manager and an extreme and chronic lack of leadership and respect from aldermen in the Ward 2 district which has cast a bleak and foreboding spell on this city. All those wonderful years when Crestwood stood so tall among cities has of the last years become a fertile bed for a ridiculous Hatfield and McCoy system which has set the city back and challenged its reputation. Allegiance in a town of 13,000 people belongs to the city, not to politics.

Tell me, what kind of person gets on a blog and calls their mayor, Boss Hawg? Or becomes obsessed with a citizen group or well meaning residents? That does nothing more than show a poor upbringing and a lackluster mentality. It results in no legislation or community betterment. Were it me, I wouldn't want anyone to guess the depths to which I would sink to show this kind of ignorance, but this example is exactly what someone in this city has invented to massage a twisted soul, and scratch a vindictive itch. Just knowing there is someone loose out there whose community participation consists of such as this is very disturbing. Thinking it might be coming from a person in a position of any kind of authority is beyond freight. It is becomming clearer and clearer the faction and the party from whence this all comes. Anyone who wants their city and their property to prosper might want to seriously consider finding the kind of alliance which is growth inspired. This sad sack with the juvenile tactics is like the resident from hell. Brain hives!! Happy, inspired and positive people don't call a Mayor Boss Hawg. It's as simple as that. Although I'll betcha the Mayor has considered the source and laughs his head off.

Watch the votes, the debate, the contributions and the work ethic of the present aldermen and form your own opinion. Watch for either creative and individual thinking, or herd mentality. Watch for courage on the dais or for the strings of puppets. Our community is at stake, and fortune has it that each April we have an election. Lot's of good things have begun to peek through of late. New leadership is inspiring and hope is on the horizon. It is making lots of us happy. Lots of us except poor Mr. Mouth.

David Brophy went up front and told everyone he had the solution to all the problems of who to elect for pres of the boa. He said make Kelleher the president. Much laughter from the audience. Who knows who was laughing at what. Mr. Brophy was in no position to tell the aldermen who to elect, a citizen can't do this. Later in the evening, Kelleher asked to speak and then pointed to the Clarks and said he had heard them laughing. Why he thought he heard the Clarks laughing among all the laughter would be hard to say! Who cares?

If the good people of Crestwood who have been putting up with so much disruptive behavior since a year ago April are able to laugh at a city meeting, so be it. It is music to the ears and high time. If an alderman draws laughter and does not like it, then perhaps he should stick to business and try letting things slide rather than take up time with his paranoia. Things like calling a mayoral appointee "confrontational" and always taking the dark side are not in the least endearing. Smart-Aleck comes to mind. But this isn't even cute on a 5 year old. This man could never qualify for President of the BOA; he could never take the heat. Meetings when Dawgwood Bowspiel are absent are pleasant, constructive and everyone goes home happy as they should.

My regards to any alderman who makes his ward proud, his city proud, and his family proud and who sets a good example for all. This is the best thing we can "send to the bank."

Crestwood mayor picks aldermen's president

05/11/2006

CRESTWOOD
Crestwood Mayor Roy Robinson chose Alderman Jerry Miguel, 3rd Ward, to serve as board president after aldermen were unable to reach a decision Tuesday night on who should be the president.

Robinson said he was reluctant to take the action, saying it was the board's responsibility to choose the board president. The board had vote twice, but each time deadlocked between Miguel and Alderwoman Patricia Duwe, 4th Ward.

Former Alderman Franklin Maddox addressed the aldermen, saying their inability to select a president was a result of politicization.

Tom Ford was not at the Alderman meeting of 5/9/06. He did not see first hand that what he reports as if he did. He is quoting 2nd hand information from John Foote.
The attacks on Kelleher are an example of the politization that Maddox spoke about but only applies to those who do not vote lock step with the Mayor and Miguel. It is this behaviour that is the real cause of the Boards division and it is political in nature as it seeks to punish those who do not agree with them and reward those that do. Look for the tape recording of this meeting to be incomplete preventing a complete record of the events of the meeting from being known. City government is turning into a Soviet form of government will all power in the hands of the mayor and Miguel. With the new chief of police being a ally of the mayor watch out for police state actions against those who do not work for the good of the mayor. The Crestwood Swim Club will soon feel the wrath of the Soviet's of City Hall with the police state they are creating. There will be a time soon when you will wish there could be more division.

Your comment was precise and on target and very well thought out. I wish more people could show us their intellect rather than their "behinds" when speaking and name calling. If they had to put their names on their comments, it would be a different story because they all know that people with professional ethics would challenge such behavior.

To 12:28, May 12th. OH NO - we didn't have any of favoritism when Tom Fagan was mayor, did we? Instead of appointing a police chief, he just gave the existing one more power and let him wear two hats. That's the joke of the century.

You accuse others of playing favorites when you just told us who you favored by your words. The mayor hasn't done anything different from when Fagan chose everybody he favored including keeping Don Greer and Diana Madrid.

If Roy Robinson only did one thing right in one year, it was getting rid of trash. Tom Fagan would have never done it. So plaudits to Roy for that. Mr. Kelleher called Alderman Miquel a "snake in the grass" at a prior board meeting a few months ago. Why should anyone consider him for President of the Board. Tell me why he should get plaudits for being such a nice person. Now he goes after two people in the audience for laughing at him when many others did also. I heard it, I saw it. Ward 2 had nobody to represent them. If you don't agree with Kelleher, he gets that Irish temper going like you can't believe. Hopefully Alderman Pickel will teach Kelleher how to be respectful, or at least one can only hope.

To the May 11, 9:14 a.m. poster:

You are correct, the charter does state that the board shall elect its president. The charter also clearly states that the mayor cannot vote on any question EXCEPT IN THE CASE OF A TIE. The vote for board president ended in a tie, so the mayor voted to break it. This is one of the responsibilities the charter gives the mayor so that the business of the city can move forward. There is no language in the charter limiting the questions for which the mayor can break a tie.

Do you think for a minute a person has to be in attendance for an event when maybe 20 of his constituents are. You should attend the boa meetings, some of them are unbelievable, I would think an alderman wouldn't be allowed to go after someone in the audience - no exceptions. Nobody in the audience said one thing to him - he only assumed someone laughed AT HIM. You do know the word assume when dissected is: ASS/U/ME it makes an a-- out of you and an a-- of me.

Become a mouthpiece? Who are you kidding? Maddox and Miguel have always been the Mayor's mouthpiece.
That's the entire story of the current goverment of Crestwood. Unless an alderman is marching in lockstep with the mayor, then they must be a Fagganite. No disagreement allowed with this mayor by his supporters. Dont believe that to be the case, read this blog as far back as you have the time and find one example where the blog's owner has not sided with what ever the mayor has done. Find one time when someone disagrees with the mayor's action where there isnt over whelming number of counter posts supporting the mayor. Then the poster who disagrees with the mayor gets a shot of personal name calling and in some cases threats. Threats? Sure, why else would the pro mayor people want the posters name? It's like there is a response network of 5/7 people that is set into action to repond to any anti mayor action regardless of the reasonableness of the action. Crud almighty folks,no mayor can be right all the time, no matter who he is. It is making the blog lose it value as a place for thinking people to go for ideas about Crestwood.

Like some of us he put his name out there for all to see (unlike anonymous,) and he put forth ideas to help Crestwood, not inuendo, and personal attacks.

As I sit here typing this, I wonder what the view from the "cheap seat's" is like, never having to worry if your right or wrong, just attacking someone, or something because your not happy! This City will never have a chance to come toghether as long as we have individuals who only think of themselves, their club, or their social status!

To the 1:33PM blogger: "Threats", when have you ever seen anyone threatened (other than me,) on this blog?

I think you are reading way to much into the post's on this blog, Period.

Now, if you would feel more secure, why not try mr. Tim Trueblood's blog? Not much going on there, and I am sure you will find a friendly forum for your thought's.

I reported the swim club and the city said they will be billed for the use of the dumpster.

Why didn't they have their own dumpster as per their CUP?

Mr. Elliott Davis, please check into the background of our new Police Chief and report your findings.

You reported the Swim Club - oooh scary.

If you had just call and inquired, you would have found out the city advised the Swim Club NOT to purchase a dumpster until the parking lot rennovations were completed.

I guess repetition make people learn. I have read that several times now.

As a resident of Crestwood, I would prefer the private swim club obtain their own dumpster ... on their OWN land - today! Had I known the city hall dumpster was being used by this pool, I would have been inclined to see if the people on Rosaire and Bali Ct. could also use the city hall dumpster.

This is not a neighborhood pool, it is a private club with members coming from out-city as well as local residents, crowding the parking lot, selling food, holding parties and swim meets, annoying the in-range neighbors and sharing a dumpster with the city. This pool has been an asset only to its stockholders/members. Tell me, does it generate any tax dollars? ARe there any rules and regulations? It has created some serious doubts as to how and why this "giant step" deal transpired. When multiple members of the BOA and city attorney's are swim club members year after year after year and details of the transfer of funds are so carefully guarded,it is time to open the blinds. The time is now and if not, why not? It behooves the city to fully accept the responsibility of uncovering facts;Aldermen who are swim club members should be recused. Threats of lawsuits and intimidation are suspect and no excuse to sidestep the matter. If this uncovering costs money and the facts are not voluntary, then the swim club should be liable. If city hall does not look squarely into this matter, or backs away from whatever it takes to get the facts, then we must decide why we are a city. We have given them their tax increase and in return they best be ready to economize AND start playing by the prescribed rules of governance. This would not include looking the other way when it comes to getting answers. The carpet of Crestwood is far too lumpy lately. Time to let the new broom sweep clean.

How was the work session tonight? Did all that was predicted to happen about the swim club happen? How about a report for those of us who couldnt attend? How did Alderman Miguel do, did he uncover any thing, was he on top of the situation? Did he show how much he understands about this sort of thing?
Thanks for taking the time to report!

No, it's probably not her, but considering it was built right on top of her back yard with taxpayer money for 8 times its worth, someone should look into this...The City was so desperate to get that corner developed they grabbed Kohl's, only to take business away from Crestwood Plaza. To go from a surplus, to almost 20 million in debt (with the now halted police station) from 1997 to 2005 took a lot of brilliance. Robertson, Fagan, Trueblood, et al should write letters of apology to each Crestwood resident for the financial mess they helped create.

I got the clues, but you must have got hit by the bus...Don't worry, I'm sure the Swim Club will allow you to use their facilities while you recover from the tumble. And who knows, maybe Greer can take you for a spin in his BMW so you don't have to worry about a bus!

What does Don Greer have to do with the swim club?

I hear that a BMW dealership is going to locate where Jim Butler is. There's a market for Bimmers in Crestwood. Just think if Fagan won over Robinson last year. Greer would be driving a Porsche by now.

Nothing, I just offered Greer's fancy ride for your recovery.

People, we have a fungus amoung us. These stupid, stupid, one liners are hard to take. I'd like to set up a pool to take bids on who this 'most stupid one' is. My gut tells me I'd win. Now don't take this off the blog, Ford, I didn't name the stupid one, did I? The only problem is: YOU CAN'T CURE STUPID!

To the 10:15 blogger, No, you can't cure stupid, nor can you cure arrogance (a close relitive,) you can only hope to lead the great un-washed to the correct path!

"Ford" will leave your comment on for all to see, as you have hit the nail on the head!

As Capt. Miller said in "saving private ryan", "Now that's the way to gripe"!

Ah yes, the fungus is among us!

Hocus pocus, Sixth and Locust.

I'd rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.

Take my wife - please!

Give a man a fish he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, he may cut himself on the bait hook! (Sorry that was a two-liner)

You, Greer, Robertson, Fagan, and the Fagan Five does too. You have something in common with a group that almost bankrupted the city.

Well, big deal! Allmost anything is neater than a Dodge pick up truck! (Dodge, it;s what's for dinner)

Like a FORD, F-150 for instance!
