The CCFFR exists in the deep dark recesses of everyone's mind, a place so remote, so intricate, that it only can be known as the Twilight Zone!

Well, the group once known under the nafarious title of CCFFR (most of whom wear hoods, and plan evil,) will be there, however the tiltl CCFFR will not be!

You see the CCFFR no longer exists as of 5/4/06. The name CCFFR was co-opted by others in the community for their own purposes, and it sun setted on 5/4/06. so only the citizens who once were the CCFFR could be there, but not the ones who co-opted the name (they could be though.)

So come there, and meet the citizens, but don't look for the CCFFR, because it won't be there.

Cinco De Mayo was a day of mourning (5/5/1912, when news of the sinking of the RMS Titanic reached Mexico!

The Titanic carried a large shipment of Mayonase for Mexico (a favorite flavoring,) bound for Mexico City after a stop in New York.

When news of the disaster hit Mexic City on 5/5/1912, the day was forever written into history as Cinco De Mayo (the day they lost their mayonase!

And now you know the rest of the story!

The owner of the NEW and IMPROVED CCFFR is Jim "Patrick" Murphy. He has registerd the name as a business and has now set it up as on on going political committee. It is still alive and in politics. But, since it is also a business in eyes of the State, will the CCFFR register with Crestwood as they have to even if it has no income? Their requirement to do so is stated in this weeks issue of the Times. One can understand why with these events its members only want to be know as "past" members.

I am so sorry that the swim club folks chose not to join us for an evening of witty banter, with dinner and drinks!

I guess that they found our being there more than they could stand! Well, you missed a great time with cold beer, and great food!

Next time, you invite us!

The day after Cinco De Mayo is Stinko De Mayo. It's for all of us who have flatulence.

Why do you label Crestwood citizens as "swim club folks"? Was the "masonic gang" there? Come on we are Crestwood citizens. I guess, Mr. Ford, you are just up to your same old comments without addressing anything of substance regarding the declining income and financial support of current services in Crestwood. Time is not on our side. With the first quarter's income down 1% (usually the first quarter is Crestwood's largest income period) from budget you would think the budget would be the issue at hand.

If your a swim club folk, I wish you could have come out to meet us.

And by the way if your not a swim club folk, you still could have joined the fun!

If you read the posting right I specificaly requested members of the swim club come up and join in on the fun! But alas that was not to be.

Labeling Crestwood citizens as members of the swim club? Nope, not a bit of it! I just wanted to get to know some of the swim club members, so why are you so defensive?

As far as the Masonic Lodge is concerned, well when was the last time the swim club payed for a child to be transported to a burn unit and treated free of charge?
Or for that matter opened a hospital(Shriners) to treat children with orthopedic problems ?

Look up the history of the Masonic Lodge, and I think you will find all of our founding fathers were Masons, as well as all but two President's! One flaw in their character though, none of them lived in Crestwod!

This weeks issue of the "Times" refers to "business", not to PAC's, or any other political committee's. ER GO, it appears no registration (at the city level,) will be needed by Mr. Murphy, or anyone else forming a political group.

Oh, so the CCSA still exists? I was wondering, who are the members of the secret organization called Crestwood Community Solutions Association? Have they filed the appropriate paperwork to become a political organization? Are they a PAC? Or a business? What positive influences have they had on Crestwood? Do they transport burn victims to Shriners, or just skim swimming pools? What is their greatest accomplishment to date? Are they going to disclose their member list? Have they received union funds? Which candidates received their financial backing? What is their position on the Crestwood Swim Club? TDDs? CIDs? TIFs? Eminent Domain? Do they have a solution for dearth of shops at Crestwood Mall? Or maybe they could organize a TID and CID, purchase Crestwood Plaza, while the city of Crestwood pays for it? Are they in favor of moving the Crain House? Do they refer to Mayor Robinson as "hizzoner" or His Honor? Is it True that you must shed Blood to join?

Wow, that's some post there! What's the CCSA anyway? I never heard of it, do I want to join?

Naw, probebly not as like Groucho Marx, "I would never be a member of any club that would have me as a member".

Is it part of the Masonic code to insult people because of the club they choose to belong to? Just wondering.

Is this bigotry or hatred against the Masons? To the person that is spitting out this vile, are you a swim club member, a current alderman, or former alderman?

Considering Patrick James Murphy was the state representative, I can hardly believe anyone doesn't understand this is HIS NAME. Gee guys, this can't be that difficult for you to comprehend. A large percentage of the population go by their 'middle' names. If you are making this sound as if he is using a Fictitious name because people call him 'Jim', I'd say you have a problem.

What trucking company does Mr. Trueblood work for?

I don't think he said he worked for a trucking company. He only stated he worked in the transportation industry.

Is it me, or is this not relivent to anything anymore? But you could call him, I'm sure he will tell you.

By now you think I have gone to the "dark side" (nope,) but hey the guy is retired from the Board, and want's to enjoy his family, so let's cut him some slack, what say you?

Last American survivor of the Titanic sinking dies
By ANDREW RYAN (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
May 07, 2006 5:26 PM EDT
BOSTON - Lillian Gertrud Asplund, the last American survivor of the sinking of the Titanic, has died, family and friends said Sunday. She was 99.

Asplund, who was 5 years old that night in 1912, lost her father and three brothers - including a fraternal twin - when the "practically unsinkable" ship went down in the North Atlantic after hitting an iceberg.

"She even said she saw the ship slip into the water," said Philip Maloof, her lawyer and close friend. "She was the last one (left) in the world to actually see the disaster."

At least two other survivors are living, but they were too young to remember what happened. Barbara Joyce West Dainton of Truro, England, was 10 months old and Elizabeth Gladys "Millvina" Dean of Southampton, England, was 2 months old.

Asplund died in her sleep Saturday at her home in Shrewsbury, outside Worcester.

"She was good up until the end," said her cousin, Alden Carlson, 59.

The Asplund family had boarded the ship in Southampton, England, as third-class passengers on their way back to Worcester from their ancestral homeland, Sweden, where they had spent several years.

Asplund's mother, Selma, and another brother, Felix, who was 3, also survived the Titanic sinking in the early morning of April 15, 1912.

Selma Asplund told her daughter it was not good to talk about the catastrophe, and she rarely did.

Instead, Asplund lived a quiet life, working as a clerk for an insurance company in Worcester. She never married and never got a driver's license.

Asplund and her brother, who also remained single, bought a home in Shrewsbury and moved their mother there, who was ill.

Selma Asplund died on the 52nd anniversary of the sinking in 1964 at age 91. Felix Asplund died on March 1, 1983.

After retiring, Asplund lived alone, gardening and watching soap operas on television. She continued to heed her mother's advice and rejected requests to talk about what happened on the Titanic.

Privately, however, Asplund opened up. Maloof, her lawyer, said she broached the subject voluntarily as the pair became friends.

"She told me that she saw her father standing on the Titanic," Maloof said. "She didn't say specifically that she was in a lifeboat, but she must have been."

Still, Asplund refused to sit for interviews, even if they offered to pay her.

"Why do I want money from the Titanic," Maloof recalled Asplund saying. "Look what I lost. A father and three brothers."

Three or four yeas ago, Asplund did talk to a reporter from The Washington Post, Maloof said. Even then, she remained reserved, rebuffing the interviewer's requests to take photographs or tape record the conversation.

Asplund's mother described the sinking in an interview with a Worcester newspaper shortly after the accident, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

The family went to the Titanic's upper deck after the ship struck the iceberg, Selma Asplund said.

"I could see the icebergs for a great distance around ... It was cold and the little ones were cuddling close to one another and trying to keep from under the feet of the many excited people ... My little girl, Lillie, accompanied me, and my husband said 'Go ahead, we will get into one of the other boats.' He smiled as he said it."

Because they lost all of their possessions and money, the city of Worcester held a fundraiser and a benefit concert that together brought in about $2,000 for the surviving Asplunds.

A memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday.
