Crestwood Board votes to keep sales tax holiday!

Please click on the header to be directed to the story. This is a good move for the the retailers in Crestwood, and will bring extra business to them. While it will not give the City any tax dollars, it will bring in shoppers that may have never shopped Crestwood before.

Unfortunately, we've fallen for the trap. Next up... A Sales Tax Holiday for the last weekend in November and first weekend in December!

Nope, that's not going to happen, trust me! I think they got this one right, we need to introduce new shoppers to Crestwood, and this will do it!

Thanks to previous boards and administrations, voters allowed sales tax rate increases to go through. Shopping in Crestwood is expensive. Add this to the fact that economic development was all but on hold while our esteemed leaders were rebuilding parks and planning police buildings, the city's economic situation worsened.

Yup, Roy was a pretty poor alderman in the day.

No 'yup' about it. Roy was not an alderman during this time of massive spending.

You can be sarcastic all you want, previous blogger, but facts are facts.

Blogger at 9:30 PM 6/15 - Nope Roy Robinson wasn't an alderman but Tom Fagan was. Stop the sarcasm. You purposely mislead people. We had enough of that in the Greer/Fagan years.

Ah yes, the Greer/Robertson Fagan Trueblood Breeding Duwe years.

Lots of debt, little economic development. Fun, fun, fun.

They can alleviate the tax all they want, but Crestwood still has nowhere for them to shop! Short of Best Buy probably seeing a lot of computer sales, there isn't much to draw the shoppers here. West County Mall, Galleria and The Bluffs in Fenton should do quite nicely.

Best Buy Crestwood has good traffic. Let's don't argue over this tax thing. Give it a chance and if it isn't productive, then next year we can do it the other way. You are nitpicking.

Oh, and by the way, Roy Robinson had nothing to do with the lack of economic development and overspending. We are in this prediciment because of Robertson, Fagan and Greer and their henchmen. Not proud moments for this city. You sure are not one of those people who wants to turn things around. Have you considered moving? Your negative attitude is so not with it.

You personify the negitive side of the Crestwood shopping experience my friend!

What do you mean Crestwood has "nowhere for them to shop"? We have some of the finest retailers on the planet here in Crestwood, but you woulden't know it by your remarks!

If you feel the Bluffs are a better area to shop in, or live in, there are a number of homes for sale out there, and guess what, you can really up your tax bill while your at it.

We should be backing Crestwood, not Fenton, or wherever else you mentioned, so get on board, or?

Please go to the following web page.

St. Louis magazine did a feature story on Crestwood in this month's issue.
It highlights Crestwood's positive attributes, something we should all be doing!

All of the economic development projects cited by Ms. Dailey in the article were started under former Mayor Brasfield and Kent Leichliter - the guy Robertson\Greer wasted $700,000+interest suing to make themselves look good and divert attention from their "OTHER" activities.

Kent's Assistant, Matt Connlley, single handedly put togehter Sam's, Kohl's & Gordman's while laying the groundwork for Watson Plaza, that is before Greer ran him off. I think he went to St. Ann becuase I just read an article about plans to rebuild Northwest Plaza and he was quoted.

Just imagine if that $700,000 was spent removing the Watson Rd. median and fixing other access problems etc……

Blogger at 10:49 a.m. 6/17. You are exactly right. Robertson/Greer took advantage of this city because of their lust for power and greatness. In between his thirst for power and thirst for other things, Robertson thought he was going to be Governor some day.

The mistakes made by Leichliter were magnified by those two to make everyone believe that things could not be rectified because Robertson wanted Kent gone and Greer showed him how to do it. Two peas in a pod they were. It was all conspired and planned and the city paid for believing it at the subsequent lawsuit. If the city were correct in what they did to Leichliter, they would have never given him a dime and the lawsuit would have never took this long. That's what you get when you have power mongers controlling everything.

Matt Conley was an exemplary employee and was the hardest working young man I ever met.

Don Greer only kept Matt Conley around so Conley could sign everything so Greer's name wouldn't be on important documents. He always picked certain people to do that. It's called covering his tracks. Conley was a very intelligent and diligent young man. Matt Conley was right in the middle of this big dilemma when Greer took over. Greer also discredited him big time, and others in his deposition. He did it to anyone who wasn't willing to do things his way.

Matt Conley is thriving now and in a much better place. He is doing a wonderful job and I am proud of him.

It's a shame that Greer has been able to destroy this city and leave like he is a movie star. He is going to keep using his manipulation stragedy and more people will be hurt and new city coffers will be run into the ground. Then instead of blaming it on himself, he will pick a fall guy like he did with Bob Wuebbels and Kent Leichliter, who will take the blame.

AHA! So Matt Conley is to blame for the Kohl's TIF sweetheart deal!

8:58AM Blogger. Why don't you call him and ask him for yourself. He now works for the City of St. Ann. I'll even give you his phone number 314-428-6801.

I think you will find his memory pretty good on the particulars of this issue.
