On this Independence Day America, please wake up to the facts! WW3 started in 1979!!

WWIII Started in 1979

This is not very long, but very informative. You have to read the catalogue of events in this brief piece. Then, ask yourself how anyone can take the position that all we have to do is bring our troops home from Iraq, sit back, reset the snooze alarm, go back to sleep, and no one will ever bother us again. In case you missed it, World War III began in November 1979... that alarm has been ringing for years
US Navy Captain Ouimette is the Executive Officer at Naval Air Station, Pensacola, Florida. Here is a copy of the speech he gave last month. It is an accurate account of why we are in so much trouble today and why this action is so necessary.
AMERICA NEEDS TO WAKE UP!
That's what we think we heard on the 11th of September 2001 (When more than 3,000 Americans were killed -AD) and maybe it was, but I think it should have been "Get Out of Bed!" In fact, I think the alarm clock has been buzzing since 1979 and we have continued to hit the snooze button and roll over for a few more minutes of peaceful sleep since then.
It was a cool fall day in November 1979 in a country going through a religious and political upheaval when a group of Iranian students attacked and seized the American Embassy in Tehran. This seizure was an outright attack on American soil; it was an attack that held the world's most powerful country hostage and paralyzed a Presidency. The attack on this sovereign U. S .
America was still reeling from the aftermath of the Vietnam experience and had a serious threat from the Soviet Union when then, President Carter, had to do something. He chose to conduct a clandestine raid in the desert. The ill-fated mission ended in ruin, but stood as a symbol of America's inability to deal with terrorism.
America's military had been decimated and down sized/right sized since the end of the Vietnam War. A poorly trained, poorly equipped and poorly organized military was called on to execute a complex mission that was doomed from the start.
Shortly after the Tehran experience, Americans began to be kidnapped and killed throughout the Middle East. America could do little to protect her citizens living and working abroad. The attacks against US
In April of 1983 a large vehicle packed with high explosives was driven into the US Embassy compound in Beirut When it explodes, it kills 63 people. The alarm went off again and America hit the Snooze Button once more.
Then just six short months later in 1983 a large truck heavily laden down with over 2500 pounds of TNT smashed through the main gate of the US Marine Corps headquarters in Beirut and 241 US servicemen are killed. America mourns her dead and hit the Snooze Button once more.
Two months later in December 1983, another truck loaded with explosives is driven into the US Embassy in Kuwait , and America continues her slumber.
The following year, in September 1984, another van was driven into the gate of the US Embassy in Beirut and America slept.
Soon the terrorism spreads to Europe. In April 1985 a bomb explodes in a restaurant frequented by US soldiers in Madrid.
Then in August 1985 a Volkswagen loaded with explosives is driven into the main gate of the US Air Force Base at Rhein-Main, 22 are killed and the snooze alarm is buzzing louder and louder as US interests are continually attacked.
Fifty-nine days later in 1985 a cruise ship, the Achille Lauro is hijacked and we watched as an American in a wheelchair is singled out of the passenger list and executed.
The terrorists then shift their tactics to bombing civilian airliners when they bomb TWA Flight 840 in April of 1986 that killed 4 and the most tragic bombing, Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland in1988, killing 259.
Clinton treated these terrorist acts as crimes; in fact we are still trying to bring these people to trial. These are acts of war.
The wake up alarm is getting louder and louder.
The terrorists decide to bring the fight to America . In January 1993, two CIA agents are shot and killed as they enter CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia.
The following month, February 1993 , a group of terrorists are arrested after a rented van packed with explosives is driven into the underground parking garage of the World Trade Center in New York City. Six people are killed and over 1000 are injured. Still this is a crime and not an act of war? The Snooze alarm is depressed again.
Then in November 1995 a car bomb explodes at a US military complex in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia killing seven service men and women.
A few months later in June of 1996, another truck bomb explodes only 35 yards from the US military compound in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. It destroys the Khobar Towers, a US Air Force barracks, killing 19 and injuring over 500. The terrorists are getting braver and smarter as they see that America does not respond decisively.
They move to coordinate their attacks in a simultaneous attack on two US embassies in Kenya and Tanzania.. These attacks were planned with precision. They kill 224. America responds with cruise missile attacks and goes back to sleep.
The USS Cole was docked in the port of Aden, Yemen for refueling on 12 October 2000 ,when a small craft pulled along side the ship and exploded killing 17 US Navy Sailors. Attacking a US War Ship is an act of war, but we sent the FBI to investigate the crime and went back to sleep.
And of course you know the events of 11 September 2001. Most Americans think this was the first attack against US soil or in America . How wrong they are. America has been under a constant attack since 1979 and we chose to hit the snooze alarm and roll over and go back to sleep.
In the news lately we have seen lots of finger pointing from every high officials in government over what they knew and what they didn't know. But if you've read the papers and paid a little attention I think you can see exactly what they knew. You don't have to be in the FBI or CIA or on the National Security Council to see the pattern that has been developing since 1979.
I think we have been in a war for the past 25 years and it will continue until we as a people decide enough is enough. America needs to "Get out of Bed" and act decisively now. America has been changed forever.. We have to be ready to pay the price and make the sacrifice to ensure our way of life continues. We cannot afford to keep hitting the snooze button again and again and roll over and go back to sleep.
After the attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto said "... it seems all we have done is awakened a sleeping giant." This is the message we need to disseminate to terrorists around the world.

We are a pitiful lot here in America. I read your article and of course, since I have not been asleep, realize it's truth and value, but alas not one comment. We can't take time to worry about this, we're shopping, we're at the pool drinking beer, surely things can't REALLY be this bad. When the really big bang is heard, there will be thousands crying out, why didn't someone warn us! Yes, we are a sorry lot.

May you have a safe and happy Independence day, and thank your parent's generation for your freedom.

Amwericans may have hit the "snooze button" many times, but as the "Greatest Generation" did when called to serve our young men and women willingly volunteer to potect the rest of us. Thank a service person, and a vet. this 4th., after all without their sacrifice there would be no shopping, or having a beer by the pool!

Which is more likely to lead us to the American demise by aiding and abetting terrorism: The New York Times or the SCOTUS????

Well, the SCOTUS has it's limitations based on the fact that there are some conservitive judges now on the court. I think that the recient ruling was less than great, but at least it gave some "wiggle room". If the Congress get's behind the President we will loose nothing.

However if the liberal RINOS in Congress whine as usual, we have a problem!

It escapes me why people cann'ot understand that the "Islamo Facists" want to kill all of us, period! These sons of dogs have no respect for women, children, the elderly, or the infirm, they just want us dead, and as soon as possible!

The new york times (lower case intentional,) poses a much greater threat, as they think if "we are just nice", all will be well! Not true, nor is it true that we can "win their hearts and minds", as we were told in Viet Nam.

These people will only stop their terror tactics when they are dead, and that's a fact we all should understand.

Now, it's up to all of us, do we continue the war on terror there, or here? I have Grand children, and I am getting a bit "long in the tooth" (64,) to jump into the frey (but I will if Kerry goes,) so I look to those who replaced me to protect us, and so far they are doing a 4.0 job of it!

The "new york times" is, at best a liberal rag that will only serve to get us all killed! So, my answer to your question is, the "nyt", and their liberal, communist leaning bird cage liner are far more a threat than Osama himself. Osama only want's to kill us, the times would destroy our will to fight, and that my friends is much, much worse!

Presumably the Crestwood INDEPENDENT will allow rebuttals from liberal rhinos who do not use the NEW YORK TIMES in the birdcage, and who are fully aware of the ramifications of political wars. Since I do not personally know a single person of this persuasion, and I am not one, I am not even sure they would bother to respond to this particular critique. Probably because they noticed that this blog site is listed as an INDEPENDENT site, and they are unsure of what that means having noticed that Michelle Malkin's site is listed, but no Independent or Democrat or Libertarian. However, for the sake of alternate opinions, writers such as Molly Ivins and A. Huffington, Maureen Dowd etc. can be pulled up on the Drudge Report, which is listed on your front page.

And in that regard, if you are concerned that the NYT is a liberal rag that will get us all killed, I would direct you to the Drudge Report, where you might want to field to: MAG: PENTAGON SEES IRAN BOMBING AS UNSUCCESSFUL" by Seymour Hersch of THE NEW YORKER, 7/3/06. As Americans, it is good we can avail ourselves of all sides of all questions and not base all our opinions on singular party affiliation. There are plenty of adjectives to go around, but only history will tell us which ones apply.

Ok,lets throw out the news media, no,lets throw out the constitution! Why wait for the enemy to take it away? We have KING BUSH to do it to us. The truth is we have known about what the NSA has been doing for several years,in todays Bloomberg report , we find that the NSA was spying on our telephones months before 911. To go after leakers the administration only wants to hide what crimes they are doing. Now the supreme court has said whistle blowers are breaking the law if the tell of crimes their government bosses are doing! We are headed for nazism! This lying bush has stollen the treasury ,put all our grand children in deap debt, lied us into a no win war, tried to get rid of social security, and by putting us into this debt he will say we have to get rid of all the safety nets. What jobs that aren't leaving the country are being filled by illegals. I never thought I would see the day when the people of this country would vote to put themselves in a lower status.Just guess who the V.P. invited to the White House to write our energy program! The Big oil men, cozy. Guess who wrote the drug program,In case you missed the drug companies did. Guess where the head of the Federal drug administration went to work after the Drug program passed congress. He went to work at the drug company who will rip us all off.Rembember when you fill up with hight price gasoline ,I hope you know why! I am not writing this to change your mine, because what has taken place in the last six tears should have done it to any thinking person.

Oop's,it looks as though I have flushed out at least one, maybe two actual LIBERAlS right here in "conservitive" Crestwood!

Why yes I do allow the "dark side" to post here, and they do it quite often. The only think I require is that when you run out of facts to back up the NYT or anything else, you do not personally attack a blogger. If you do, your post is gone the same day!

The word "Independent" refers to Crestwood politics, and Crestwood politics only, short of that I would fall on the conservitive Republican side. I know of the blogs to which you refer, but if you want to read them please by all means do. However you will not get a link to them here.

To the 3:23, 7/3, blogger, King George? Big oil? Hide what they are doing? I think you had better read the post on the "black Helo's" again. Oil is a traded commody on the futures market, and as such is controlled by speculation! If our buddy in Iran says he will wipe out Isreal, wam, the oil prices raise, if not we see a dip. Also are you aware that we are at max. refining capacity in this country? Eaven if they gave us the oil, production would hold up the supply, and demand would raise the price!

Let's all ask our liberal friends why we can't build new refineries (hasen't been one in 30 years,) or why we can't drill in Anwar, or off the coast.

Reference jobs leaving the country, remember Bill Clinton signing that "NAFTA" treaty? There is where your jobs are going, again not Bush's fault. I know that the Bush haters will never see the good President Bush has done for this country, and I don't expect them to, but please don't try to blame everything on Bush!

Last but not least, if you have ever been involved in a shooting war, or on the outskirts of one, you will understand that it is a far better idea to have it in Iraq rather than Crestwood! The "Islamo facists", as I have stated want us dead, were all "Infidel's", not Catholic. Lutheran, ETC., but Infidel's! The sooner we understand that, and start removing them from the gene pool, the better off we will be.

In closing, I fill up every day at the gas pumps because I drive 225 to 350 miles each day, so I have some working knowledge of the gas costs. The costs will remain high as long as the dynamic mentioned above remains in effect. Until that changes, please do us a favor and remember that they attacked us on 9/11, not the other way around.

I listen/watch C-Span religiously and am a newspaper addict. Sunday mornings are spent watching Chris Wallace, George S., Meet the Press, John McGlaughlin, etc. etc. I never get tired of all the mixed opinions and getting both sides of the story. They spell America to me. As long as there is the priviledge of publicly airing opinions, democracy will be safe. It is when "intolerance" rears its ugly head that the comfort zone gets shaky. Both parties have faults and high marks.I am glad I have the opportunity to pick and choose the best candidates for the job. I am glad there are several parties from which to choose. This way we can participate in helping to form a more perfect union. I am proud to say my voting record is varied. I have no label. Why - because I don't have to.

To the 8:20 blogger, BRAVO! I coulden't agree more reference intolerence! There can be no doubt that we all need to hear both sides in order to make informed decisions.

Both the "far left, and the far right" would have it their way or no way, and it is that sort of thinking that will lead the Nation to doom if followed.

I, like you do not believe that one party has all the answers, nor do I believe that one candidate is "the savior of America".

I do draw the line however when any side, or their house organ's (NYT,) disclose, print, or hint to anything remotely close to our National security! We can like the war (if there is such a thing,) or hate it, but, when I hear "I support the troop's", not the war,I makes me wonder how that can be. If we support the troop's, we must support the mission, else we support neither.

My three grandchildren deserve to go to a ball game, mall, aircraft trip, or whatever without the worry of some third rate country lunitic killing them because they are not Islamic! We must stop these faciest's before it's too late. Appeasement is not, nor never will be the answer, Nevel Chamberlin, and Bill Clinton tried it, and we got Hitler, snd Osama!

To sum up my rambling's, please do read, listen to, and watch all you can, become informed, and then work for your belief's. This Country has no need for lemmings on either side.

You are a name caller! A shallow thinker! You call me a member of the dark side, a liberal. I never brought up Clinton. You assume since I don't agree with you I must be wrong. Yes Clinton backed old man Bush's trade bills, after he said he wouldn't to get elected. These parties are playing the American people like a violin. These leaders know what ever they do will not effect them. The congress have gerrymandered their districts , given themselves $3500 pay raises every year ,have made no sacrifices during this trumped-up war in Iraq, infact they gave the richest a tax break. Only the poor and middle class are affected by this war and the burden of debt it will bring. The indifference was very clear the other day when the president's press secretary said about the millitary deaths in Iraq was "just numbers". I am not a Democrate or a Republican, how could I be,they don't know what they are. Conservative and compassionate Republicans are neither, give me a break. Democrates who voted for these Republican trade bills underminded the working class people.A pox on both parties!

Moi (me,) a "name caller, a shallow thinker"? Gee I don't think thats true. How would I know you are on the "dark side" anyway, you won't identify yourself to us, so how are we to know?

You could be a Republican, Independent, Liberterian, window washer, or Democrat, no one other than you knows! It does seem to me though that you protest way too much, after all this is "just a blog" (ask Burke Wasson,) and as such can't hurt you or I.

I have stated that I am a conservitive, I am patrotic, I love this Country, and for the most part I am a Republican! I am not ashamed to state any of thoes simple positions, nor should you be to stand up for what you believe in!

If you read my post where I asked all to refute facts, not with name calling, but with facts, I guess you forgot it. If it makes your day to attempt to insult me, go for it, but stand by to hear the truth in re-buttal.

Incedently, My Grandmother lived to be 98 years old! Twards the end her body functioned normally, and she was very spry for that age. However her mind had, for the most part failed her, and so far as we know, that's the only time we ever had a Democrat in the family! (HEH, HEH, HEH!)

Lighten up my friend, we all travel this way but once, so let's enjoy the trip!

You say liberal like it's a dirty word. Being liberal is what our country is founded on....the right to speak freely, the right to practice whatever religion we desire, the right to choose our own interests. That is what our forefathers had in mind. If we have to fight to keep those freedoms, we should, whether it's in a court of law or on another country's land, and 'conservatives' don't have a corner on fighting for our country and our rights, liberal does not mean we don't believe in fighting for our country.

Our country is filled with what you would refer to as 'liberals', I might even say the majority of our country is filled with people that don't fit the 'conservative' mold.

In fact, we are right now in the middle of a 'war' to LIBERATE a country that doesn't allow these freedoms for their citizens. A conservative country, one that puts people to death for expressing themselves. What would happen in Iraq if your burned their flag, if you were homosexual, or if God forbid, you wanted free press that investigated the truth and published it, despite some political party not liking it???

Our country is filled with liberals, and that is the way it is supposed to be. If you think that liberal-minded people are the 'dark side', then perhaps you should move to a country that doesn't allow them.

I tend to believe there is actually a singular purpose behind all this party this party that rhetoric. We just forget sometimes, in the heat of our personal passions, that we are ALL patriots and we support our troops. Most of us have a superior being in whom we place our trust, and pray for humanity. It is not, however, a prerequisite for being an American.

It is not treason to disagree with the scope of the national debt, the pathetic reach of our country's education and healthcare, the absolute seriousness of illegal immigration, environmental issues, corporate graft and corruption, do-nothing "crooked" elected officials, the sinking social security program, national infrastructure, estate taxes, jobs leaving the country, the first amendment, terrorism, tax breaks for the rich, the great economic gap, gay marriage, flag burning, abortion, minimum wage, conflict of interest, safety nets for the disadvantaged, oil, etc. etc. etc.

It's just that the pursuit of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness has lost a little steam in a country that claims to be the greatest nation in the world. And no one wants to admit to this slippage. Too busy, too busy, too busy. Easier and less time consuming to just claim a party affiliation and rest on the laurels of its past reputation.

Aggressively courting the Christian Right to garner votes, printing information in a paper which risks our terrorism efforts, repugnant gerrymandering, prioritizing flag burning and gay marriage in perilious times, outing CIA agents as retribution, inappropriate demonstrations, feet dragging on the illegal immigration issue, the real reason for war, lack of comprehensive efforts to maintain mainland jobs, etc. etc. etc. are worthy of mention. It is all fair game for those who are not "snoozing." Nothing in the constitution that I know of says anything about ruling by arrogance. Nowhere does it call liberals, rhinos; or conservatives biased. Better get a grip on reality soon, though. All these strongly held opinions are not holding water so much anymore. Party politics is not necessarily a stamp of patriotism. This 2-party system seems to be blindsighting America. With every package of porksteaks comes a hunk of buried fat.

An open mind is the fertile bed on which we should all plant seeds for tomorrow. Consider future generations just as you consider which cell phone company to join. Take the best, admit the worst, elect the deserving -and bury the ignorance, arrogance and intolerance which is beginning to divide the nation. This rabid politics stuff is not in the least nation building.
