The "WPA" project in front of the Fire Department!!

This may not be the approriate place to leave a comment.

Has anyone else noticed the large hole in front of the fire department entrance.

It has taken several months and attempts to repair/fix the leak and yet the hole is still leaking.

Who is paying for the feable attempts at repairing/fixing the leak?

I can only hope that they are not finished.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am taking the liberty to move this to "front street" as the blogger asks a very legitimate question here. If you have been on Sappington Road lately, you will see a "construction site" that seems to be there to repair a broken water main, sewer line, or whatever "fluid line" is leaking. As the blogger states, this is not the first attempt to remedy this, and I question just how many holes in the ground will be needed to find a "fluid leak"!

We seem to be on track to cut extra expenses here, but the constant re-visiting of a leak cannot be helping in that endeavor. May we please hear from someone who has some knowledge of what the heck is going on here, or are we to believe a "leak" can't be fixed.

If this continues, I will be glad to volunteer to build a "divining rod", and employ it free of charge, as somehow I believe someone needs to find the leak, and FIX it!

Sappington Rd. is the county's problem, not the City of Crestwood. I don't think it has anything to do with the city. That's all I know, and I know its not much.

It's not on Sappington rd. even though it may look like it. Yes, it is the city's problem and it unfortunately it won't be cheap.

Well we have an answer folks! As I suspected the problem stems from very old infrastructure (pipes, sewers,) in most of St. Louis County. I received this today in an E-mail, so I shall post it for your edification.

"The City had a leaking water service line. The line was leaking in two sections, one at the valve which attaches to the main and one approximately ten feet away from the main. The City hired Bieg plumbing to repair both leaks and sleeved a new section of service line. The majority of the line under Sappington Road has now been repaired, with the exeption of the western-most portion of the southbound lane. A temporary patch has been placed over the repair and a permanent repair will be made at a later date.

The existing leak on Sappington Road is from a fire hydrant lead. This is the responsibility of the Water Company to repair.

The City has had previous problems with our service line and the Water Company has had previous problems with their water mains in this area. There have been several leaks over the last few years."

I trust That sould answer everyones question's. Face it folks, we live in a City that's gettinng older (me included.)

Thank's for the sppedy reply.

How much has this water leak cost the City of Crestwood to fix multiple times?

What is really the underlying cause of this leak?

If this not fixed by the start of winter, who will be liable for the car accidents?

To the 11:20, 7/14 blogger. I don't have the answers on how much we have spent, but the City clerk should be able to help you.

You can also ask your Alderman for the numbers as well. In fact that's a very good starting point, as that's what we pay them to do, come back with the correct answers.

I can tell you that whenever I have asked for information on anything City related everyone at City hall has been extreemly helpfull. Give it a shot, I think you will be impressed with the results. If your not, please come back and tell us why.

AS a long time resident on SO. SAPPINGTON RD, I HAVE kept in touch
with the County water and the County highway Dept's...I went to the
Water Co. office on MONDAY JULY 17, 06 and asked for an explanation
of the water leak(S) as ALL of S Sappington residents ARE relatives of mine
and we have " kept an eye on this". The Maintenance Super explains that "there is a leak involving the valve and the Water Co will fix it and that there is no health hazard involved." I HOPE this helps. Jacque Stock
