From the Crestwood City Website: Did you know that the Auntie Anns Pretzels in Westfield Crestwood was the first Auntie Anns in the St. Louis Market? Since owner Don Pace purchased the franchise earlier this year, hes been pleased with steady sales despite the downturn nationally in shoppers visiting regional malls. Currently, we know that about 5% of mall visitors will purchase our product, says Pace. At the corporate level, Auntie Anns is working to increase this percentage with a brand re-launch underway, including new uniforms and a new look for stores. In addition Auntie Anns corporate has designated August 19 as Free Pretzel Day. From 10am-4pm participating stores will give away 1 free pretzel to customers. The hope is to expand the customer base by increasing exposure to the Auntie Anns product. Pace, who owns 4 Auntie Anns stores in the region, and says that Westfield Crestwood customers are his most loyal.

Hmmm. Interesting. A precedent has now been set for commercial businesses to get free internet advertising on the Crestwood website paid for by taxpayer dollars. All 440 or so local businesses in Crestwood can now demand free commercial advertising on the City website as can any commercial enterprise that does or wants to do business in Crestwood or anywhere for that matter. The local newspapers and their associated internet websites, such as the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, are surely going to love the taxpayer paid for competition for their advertising departments. As a taxpayer, I object to the use of my tax dollars to pay for private, commercial business advertising on the world wide internet.

Don't get your tie in a knot, I just read the City site, and I agree! This is just a way to promote Crestwood business, period!

But, as I have said, if they want free advertising, I will do it for them on the blog!

Blogger at 6:51 PM 8/12 - if you don't like it, go live in a cave! If you don't like Crestwood and think that this 2 for nickel comment about Auntie Annes Pretzels makes you that upset, live somewhere else. Talk about splitting hairs! Say something worthwhile. Who gives a darn about some comment made on this blog about a business in Westfield. There are much bigger things to get all upset about in this city.

Yeah, like our Mayor going against the recomendations of the State Audit, after we spent over $50,000 of our tax dollars for the report.

Blogger at 8:05 8/12 You are not going to be heard if you are just talking about the State Audit on this blog. You need to go to the aldermen meeting and ask the question. This blog isn't going to get you anywhere. And also, while you are at it, ask the City Attorney for his expertise on why we are going against the State Audit especially if it cost $50,000. He is suppose to be watching our backs! What does he have to say about it. Thats why he earns the big bucks so let him explain, don't just say it's the mayor!

Blogger, pls get back to us with what you find out about the Audit from the City Attorney, Mr. Golterman. Without facts from a reliable source, your comments are not much more than blabber. I think it would serve us all well to get these facts from Mr. Golterman. Publically, since you find is such an issue.

Well apparently the blogger who was concerned about the audit as it related to the budget did not have the tenacity to speak with the City Attorney and get his rendering. It is the City Attorney's JOB to make sure all is according to hoyle. Tell me, is he doing this? Let's hope so. Come on worried blogger get us an answer.
