Where are the "cub reporters"?
Mr. Ford, why don't you ever attend the meetings and allow others to bash those who do not attend (except you of course)?

Why don't I ever attend the meetings? Well, on Tuesday in was on the Indiana, Illinois border, on a job site.By the time I arrived back in Crestwood, I was too tired to go anywhere but bed!

Today I have just come in from Effingham, Illinois, and likewise am just as tired.

My major problem is that I am getting a bit long in the tooth, have had cancer (may have it again,) and I run out of steam a lot quicker than I used to.

Now as to bashing anyone, well I would rather no-one did it, but that's a bit "pie in the sky" isn't it. But, hey, if you were there how about a report for the folks like me who wern't!

Well let's see where do I begin. The meeting was short and sweet and Mr Grewe got his CID for Crestwood Square and the Budget was approved. Mr. Freidick revisited the issue of his street flooding, MSD representative stopped by to tell the citizens of Crestwood their sewer bills would be sky rocketing and Mrs. Cottle conducted her final duties at an Aldermanic Meeting as City Clerk. Adjournment at 8:50 PM.

There has been "talk" about the amount of expenditures for lawyers in the past. Seems numerous BOA meetings have included executive sessions in 2006 with no published "votes" or closure. Did the expenditures for legal services in 2006 come within budget?

I don't know if they were in budget or not, but we can look on the web site, or request the number's via a FOIA form. Then you will know for sure.

Which agency can investigate the CID money?

If MSD supervises the CID sewer work, are they liable for work not done or mismanaged.

Since a CID is a government bond, can the bond money be audited by our Missouri State Audior or the IRS?

Who signed for all of the work to be completed by a CID bond to improve the MSD sewers?

10:52 PM blogger: The two million is tax monies Crestwood should have gotten from that area, but will now go to "help pay" for the re-hab.

It's a T.I.F. (or tax increment financing program,) that help's a developer re-coup is cost's for a project.

A T.I.F. is a 20 yeat long "tool" that is to be used to encourage new project's. In this case however our economic development specialist recommended it for a center that was in place.

There are three seperate, and distinct political sub-divisions that can be used (T. I. F.- C.I.D.-T.D.D.) If you remember the T.D.D. (transportation development district,) was used to fund a parking lot, pool for the Kohl's project.

The bottom line is that every time the City uses one of these "tool's" we loose, the school district looses, and the developer, well.

I thought a TIF just held the tax income the city got at it's pre redeveloped rate untill the increase tax income paid off the TIF bond? That there is no increase in level of sales tax rate. Which means there is not a decrease in tax income, city just doenst get full level untill later.
I thought a TDD, and CDD were sales taxes added to current rate charged that went to pay redevelopement but could never have been collect by any city, so there is no loss there?
Explain how I have been mislead if this is not the case.

CRESTWOOD: Graffiti stirs promise of more patrols

12/13/2006

Police are promising extra patrols near a home that was vandalized with graffiti, including a racial epithet.

Police Chief Mike Paillou said someone has scrawled words and "primitive drawings" onto the cars and fence at the residence during the nights of Nov. 18, Nov. 28 and again on Sunday.

Paillou said the married couple have no idea who committed the vandalism or why. He said the husband is white and the wife originally is from an island in the Indian Ocean.

Paillou said police suspected juveniles but had no suspects. He said officers were investigating and will patrol the couple's neighborhood more frequently.
