The CALL reported what was said, the editoral is what one person thinks about it.
I think the Mayor is out of control as shown by his reactions to questions by Aldermen Nieder and Miguel,. I have read on this very blog how the Aldermen need to ask more questions and that Jerry is doing the right thing by doing so.
Now we find that our mayor doesnt like being asked questions, which makes me wonder why?

Why didn't Burke Wasson mention how the Rosebrook Swim Club old pool property was blighted?

Why didn't Burke Wasson mention the $1.00 sale between Rosebrook Real Estate/Crestwood Swim Club and the City of Crestwood for the back parking lot?

How can you include the city's back parking lot when it is not connected to Kohl's parking lot?

You literally have to hop over the City's parking lot for the Fire and Police cars!!

Has Burke Wasson interviewed Mayor Roy Robinson about his membership to Crestwood Swim Club and being a stockholder of Rosebrook Real Estate Company?

What is keeping Mayor Roy Robinson from telling the truth about his connection to the Crestwood Swim Club?

8:30 PM Where is your PROOF that the mayor is a member of the Swim Club or a stockholder in Rosebrook? Some people on this blog want PROOF, what is yours? Seems some bloggers only ask for PROOF when it shadows the deeds of those to which they have alliances. So, where is the PROOF on your facts concerning the mayor?

The mayor is an embarassment. He's defensive, argumentative, and lacking knowledge....and they are discussing that he and the City Administrator be spokesmen for the city?

11:33 AM, February 08, 2007
Anonymous Anonymous said...

I voted for Roy Robinson and am proud of it. But the way he's treating Neider and Miguel and trying to be a spokesperson for the city at the same time is beyond me. Did something happen? This bothers me that the mayor is afraid of any questions. Maybe he's truly trying to do what he thinks is best for the city and I believe he is trying to do that. But shutting off people from speaking about city business and shutting down aldermen from asking questions is not the right way to do it. We still like you Roy. But we're disappointed. Let aldermen speak and do away with the whole spokesperson issue.

Wonder if it is known that all members of the swim club are not privvy to the shenanigans of the leadership. Members pay a membership fee and joining fee and go swim. Many do not live in Crestwood. They have no clue that the leadership going back to the origin of Rosebrook Realty has so much "grey." Something that could be very disconcerting to the unknowing with integrity. The membership list includes people who have long stopped attending the pool, their kids are grown and they are inactive altogether. I find it very strange that the terms and conditions and costs of membership are not spelled out(are secret). All members should not be judged by the cozy bunch who shrewedly guards the pool. It is however sad that the stance of this pool is to be exclusive and expend so much energy protecting the pool which should never have been built in its present location and should not be such a bad neighbor in the neighborhood. If this is not true, then who is it that gets such a kick out of mocking one of the neighbors. Such a tell tale sign or the pregailing mentality. By the way how much are they contributing to the city's trash bill or do they have their own dumpster during season? The fact that this is a private pool not a city pool was changed on the paperwork was it not?

Oh my gawd, it just goes on and on. is this pool more important than a mayor who wont allow questions? is this pool more important than a civil service board that want changes in the city code that would allow nepotism?
based on the posts one would have to say yes to both questions.

2:33 AM blogger: The clowd over this pool deal is but a macrocosm of the ill's in crestwood politics over the past few years!

We have a whole lot of problems to fix here, Civil Service, the pool TDD, and others, but as for now, this TDD thing is coming to a head, and we are focusing on that for the present.

Fear not though, we have many involved people here who are very good at "multi tasking," so we can work on all the issues at once if need be.

The pool issue is on the front burner due to the questions some of us have as to how this was done.
Civil Service is also right up there as well, but so far not as pressing.

Why is Mike Anthony so intent on discrediting this Mayor? Does anyone know their past and how we got to this point?

In every city of this great nation, even Overland, MO, a city's Mayor is the default city spokesperson. How hard is that to understand? That's what a mayor does! In time of crisis, are we to get our city information from the dog catcher?

Poster 7:40a.m. This mayor discredits himself when he attacks Alderman Nieder and Miguel for asking questions and by reference, any citizen at a meeting who does same. This mayor discredits himself when he says we don't need computers programs to figure out payroll and book keeping of the city, just a couple of secy. with pencils could do that. This mayor discredits himself when he demands a city budget of one page so he can understand it. This mayor discredits himself when at his first Town Hall Meeting after being elected he says "just forget about what I said during the campaign, that's over now". This mayor discredits himself when he instructs the City Attorney to draft an ordinance that would allow for nepotism in Crestwood. This Mayor discredits himself when he hits Westfield up for $3000 campaign contribution after he is elected.
This mayor does not need any one's help in being discredited, he is doing a find job all by himself.

BUT, prove the things you say that we haven't heard or do we have to take your word for them. You just said a multitude of things. I say PROVE THEM. We are innocent until proven guilty. So I WANT PROOF! YES PROVE THE THINGS YOU SAY. Until you prove it, you are making slanderous remarks, you are spouting hearsay and once again you are a naysayer who runs around making remarks you cannot prove.

People like to say bad things about people they hate. I say you hate the mayor and would hate him under the best of circumstances. Why? Because you play politics just like the rest of your gang.

I say run for office and be mayor so we can give you back all the blank, blank you gave him and more.

3:56 PM and 4:21 PM Saying what you have said with your comments regarding the mayor probably doesn't distress me as much as how much hatred you put into the words themselves.

I am not stubborn at all because I have seen and read things too that don't particularly turn me on as far as our mayor.

But you are just down right hateful with your words and I can't imagine where it all comes from. Your comments practically come out of the screen and punch us in the nose.

Furthermore, you are the one who made the comments, so the burden of proof isn't on me to check them out, it is on you. Some of them are very hard to swallow. You seem to forget that in order to do anything in Crestwood, there are 8 people on the board who are the ones who will decide on issues as far as what is right for Crestwood.

Be honest about your comments. You are not concerned about the issues, you are more concerned with the mayor himself. It's so evident that you wouldn't give this mayor credit for anything and it's because he was not, nor ever would be your choice for mayor in the first place, and you had your money on the other guy who by his profession alone makes much better presentations and says things smoothly as butter on bread cause that's what he does for a living.

You spew your villanous tongues and put the mayor under a microscope. While we all have heard and seen things for ourselves that we are not very happy with, you wait in the bushes for anything he says or does to use against him, like a bunch of angry lions waiting for something to satisfy your insatiable appetites. Sounds like it's not the issues he sanctions that you hate, it is the man himself.

The aldermen are the ones who have the last word so why be so disgusting unless you have a grudge?

You are shameful and your hatred exudes your comments. Scream and shout all you want. I still want to see proof of some of your allegations. Some I can understand but others - Show Me!

Roy IS the problem right now! You contend there are 8 others who run the city, why don't you tell Roy that, as he sure doesn't want them to speak to the media, that is reserved for him. He drafted the pro-nepotism bill, not the BOA.
If you really want hate filled speech just go back and read the posts made about Greer, Daily,Kottle Fagan,Robertson, Madrid, Kelleher, Trueblood,Pickel,Breeding,Dewe, Vincent. What has been said about this Mayor, pales in comparison to the out right lies, half truths and assumptions made about those listed, much less the members and leaders of the Crestwood Swim Club and its leadership. That is a whole new major league of hate speech!

Now that Roy has been in office about 18 mths, don't you think its time for his promises made when he ran to be put into action? The BOA isn't stopping him, he has yet to cast a veto, break a tie of a bill. Since the BOA is being attacked by the Mayor for asking a question, why would you expect them to offer solutions in the form of leadership?.

The things said about the Mayor are political in nature, the others who have been attacked on this blog have had their character attacked. I'll give you a perfect example of why so many of Roy's supporters just don't get it. Your own statement about the other guy speaking smoother because that's what he does for a living. What on earth has that got to do with running a City? You vote against the smoother speaker because he did that for a living and then complain that Roy's every word being quoted makes the City look bad and it's the papers fault for doing it? As you elected him because you liked the way he talked, one would thing you would rejoice in the chance to read his spoken words.

1:04 AM If that's your assessment of what has happened in this city, so be it.

But I never said there wasn't hateful things said about others on this blog, I was only talking about the mayor. So by your comments, you are saying that it's OK for people to do that to the mayor because it was done to others. Right there, you are choosing sides and that's wrong. If it's wrong to do to those you have pointed out, it is wrong to do to the mayor or anyone.

Since your alliances are obiously not with this mayor, you defend others and say it's OK to do to him. Well, the people chose him and if you think that it's OK to keep harping on who gave money to his campaign, etc. and so forth, you are just as bad as those who choose to ridicule all those people on your so-called list that you mentioned in your blog comment.

I am trying to send a message here, but I am not going to spend time arguing about it. What you need to do is get someone to run for mayor who meets your needs, like one who will sanction a 14 million dollar police department and bring Greer back in power.

You brought other things into your comment, other than what was necessary, so I will do the same thing.

Nothing further from me.

1:04 AM Mayor supporters just don't get it? 4:21 PM Listen to the tapes and 3:56 PM Read the minutes?

I hate to interject, for fear of being chewed out, but I think you refuse to see both sides. Because if you listened to the tapes and read the minutes or been at the meetings I attended, you would find that many of those people who you refer to as being villified in the past, are also on city hall tapes and in board minutes saying things that are not too kind. Mr. Trueblood is not so sqeeky clean and has been extremely vocal at meetings, and Mr. Kelleher's smart mouth gets him in trouble all the time but of course not with his "fellow compadre Fagan" cause he was allowed to get as abnoxious as he wanted to. Why not listen to the tapes of those meetings?

You can do your own research in the Wood River newspapers to get the scoop on Mr. Greer. So you just go and draw that line where you want on this, but what I have read and seen with my own eyes at board meetings shows me that many of the people you hold in reverence are just as bad, like it or not. Maybe you didn't get close enough to smell Mr. Robertson's vodka breath at his meetings. It spoke volumes!

But I guess you only saw the names you wanted to see in the articles you read or what you heard on tape.
How nice of you to be so fair.

Too bad you are so blindsided to understand that there have been enough misdeeds by those you mention as there are about the mayor's.

Now where do we go from here.

As for the jibes about the vodka and bourban - well let's hope booze on the board does not cost us another lawsuit like it did several years ago. It really is time to just get our city rolling and get over all this hate. The boozer is gone. Another will leave after April.
