No cameras at intersections in Crestwood! Please click for the South County Times story!

Well, at least Crestwood will not be issuing red light tickets via camera! We have a safe haven from that fiasco thanks to our BOA!

I did read the TIMES story on the cameras and felt the aldermen had our best interests in mind.

Then, on the way to South Crestwood, at Watson, the driver next to me blatently ran the red light. Probably an outsider, right. Then I wondered why he is getting away with it, what if he had hit someone, etc. etc. why shouldn't we make people who break laws pay and make streets safer while we are at it and gain some change. Afterall, many cities are now doing this so Crestwood could not be called Pioneer Gougers!!!

I did not hear the arguements at the BOA meeting, so I am not advocating a thing. Just thought it amazing that having just read this in the paper, I experienced it within an hour. I begin to think it is not all about big brother when it is protective safety wise. St. Louis is known for red light runners. But, then, I am one to think that if smoking was stopped in ALL restaurants, smokiers would not stay home. Gotta eat.

I like the safety issue of the cameras, but the "big-brother" aspect of it bothers me.

I also think I read somewhere that there were more rear-end collisions at stoplights known to have cameras as drivers slam on their brakes at the last minute. If I can find that article, I'll reference it in another post.
