Folks there is a brand new blog in South County, and It's a 'HOOT!"

"South County Mike" has unleashed a few torpedo's on our friends the "paper!" The fact that he is willing to put this out there in writing, and that he includes personal stories, and case numbers leads me to believe this very well may be true!

Now I have no way of knowing if these are facts, so I will give you the link to his blog site, (click the header))and allow each of you to make your own mind up about Mike and the "paper."

I see that the "paper" has once again taken the Mayors remarks about Iran, and bombing out of context to fit their agendas (imagine that.) but what would I expect from these "reporters anyway?

If what Mike has to say is gospel, then I will tell you that the credibility, voracity, and moral compass of the "paper" has no standing with me what so ever!

To have the nerve to say that I posted a "raciest joke?" And not to link to them in the future is beyond comprehension! Why in the name of all that is holy would I even want to link to a group of that nature, why would anyone?

If I have failed to make myself clear in this post, please let me say that I find them without honor, and as such a stench in the nostrils of honest men!

Yes, Tom, I noticed that heading about Iran, too. But I consider the source when I see that kind of sensationalism in that mail dropping. A mere case of mini-tabloiditis. Trouble is that the only ones who read those localized columns are people like us, looking for confirmation of their tastelessness (our Wednesday delight) and curious to see the latest jab and then their cheering section who have their pom poms out. Right now it would seem we the curious have the edge. The pom poms are getting in the way of judgement.

Whats wrong with the Mayor's quote about his concern bombs from Iran being printed or used as a headline? If it makes him look bad, then maybe he should think before he speaks. How else are we to get real insight of an elected offical if we don't can't hear or read what they say? Sounds to me like your killing the messenger for reporting what was said or you are finding a problem with how it was presented. Did the presentation change anything from what you read below in the article? Was the Mayor misquoted, if so he should demand a retraction in a letter to the editor. The tape of the meeting that the City makes will then show what was said and how it was said.
I was interested in the difference between the Mayor's prepared statement and his non prepared statements. Just doesn't sound like the same person. What say you about that?

4:38 PM blogger: in a word, nothing is wrong with the Mayors quote. But (and here's where we differ,) if you read the entire comment by the mayor, you will see that he use that as an analogy, not a statement.

The headline reads Mayor more worried about bombings (paraphrase.) Now tha that makes him look as though he couldent care less about the budget.

Clever way to change the readers mind, no?

By the way if you read the article about the Code of conduct, you will see that their are two new bright stars on the Board, and the remainder are just obstacles to progress.

They have found two new champions (read liberals) to laud, so watch for the rising stars in the future.

My agenda, why would you think anyone who posts here would have an agenda?
If all one reads are the headlines and not the rest of the article, shame on them if they don't get the real point of what the Mayor was saying.
I did read the entired article and the way he dissed the latest departed female City employee,(how many is that now that have left in the last 2 1/2 yrs.?) claiming her report was a guess. It sure made me think he was more worried about bombs from Iran than the budget. Plus it seemed that once again he was blaming someone who had left the City and was not here to defend themselves.
Do you think the way the C/A has switched his view on the "upcoming storm" in two weeks is a bit strange? I do and I'd bet most readers of the articles would do the same. Can't blame the paper for that can you?

Mr. Heins apparently has a long history of harassing people he doesn't agree with. Just ask Dan Fowler as documented in this excerpt from an article written by Alyson Raletz and published Oct. 23, 2003 in the Call:

Fowler told the Call that he has has received other e-mails from Heins that he considers “bizarre,’’ and views the e-mails as harassment and an attempt to intimidate him from writing future columns for the Call.

In an Aug. 14 column, Fowler was critical of the manner in which the administration and the board have handled the Proposition P districtwide building improvement program.

In an Aug. 14 e-mail to Fowler, an insurance agent, Heins wrote: “Hey Dan, There’s a rumor going around that American Family is going to stop writing auto and home policies. Is this true?’’

Fowler told the Call he did not respond to that e-mail and three others from Heins, including the Sept. 18 e-mail, because of their “bizarre’’ nature.

“I think that the e-mails were uncalled for,” Fowler said. “It’s a very dirty form of politics. From our point of view, we viewed it as harassment and intimidation.”

Sandy Fowler, who works as a part-time counselor’s clerical assistant at Oakville Middle School, said the fact that a Board of Education member was looking into her hire date made her feel uncomfortable.

“I did feel intimidated,” she said. “I didn’t take it as an out-and-out threat, but it was very intimidating. It was a very uncomfortable feeling for someone to look into a job that is only 15 hours a week.”

Dan Fowler said there was no need for the e-mails.

“Mr. Heins knows my phone number,” he said. “If he knows the date of my wife’s employment, obviously someone gave him that information. He knows I am a former board member. What was the point other than to harass and intimidate?”

Fowler said if he receives any more e-mails from Heins, he intends to file an ethics complaint with the Missouri Ethics Commission on Heins and the Mehlville School District.
