The business of Crestwood must move forward!

There can be no doubt that these are very troubling times for Kirkwood and Crestwood. In fact I would go so far as to say the events of these past few day's will no doubt alter our thinking from now on!

I am sure we all know, or knew someone who was involved in this tragedy, and we will mourn their loss for some time to come. I believe all five of the individuals who lost their lives on that day were dedicated to the betterment of Kirkwood, in fact I know they were, and we all will miss them greatly!

The question now is what do we take from this, what are we all willing to do to come together as a community? We all have our "agendas" in life, that's normal but things changed last Thursday night at a City council meeting. Things became a bit more complicated that they were before this tragedy.

Kirkwood is working on coming together since that fateful day as well they must, but what of Crestwood, can we, or should we do no less? I am not big on "touchie, feelie" things but this seems to be one time when we all need to reflect on the cares and concerns of each other and try to help each other.

In the coming months we will be looking at some large ticket items (Crestwood Plaza sale,) and how we handle ourselves during these times will reflect on us as a whole. I pray we can, and will show the same devotion to the Community that the slain Kirkwood officials did.

I look forward to your comments and suggestions!

Well, at least we're not Berkeley California...I think Watson Road business has improved dramatically in the last few years, yeah I know what about the Plaza, what about the Plaza??...the Plaza had a good run, but that Crestwood gold-mine is long tapped out...I hope something goes in there that will attract some folks who might occasionally step out of their homes and spend money in Crestwood...remember what Maplewood was like 20 years ago?...these days its the place to be for young folks...and good things can happen to Crestwood too.

I agree with you. If you look at our problems and compare them to the Country at this time, let's face it, our overall economic status hasn't been great either.

Seems Crestwood is not alone in the "making mistakes" department. I don't feel we should ever give up on our city. We have had such a good run for many years, that we got a little too comfortable that's all; but people all over the United States have been doing that in their personal lives too. Look at all the real estate foreclosures! These foreclosures have not just been imposed on average households. Those with above average incomes have also been in this mix.

A few years ago, people were investing big bucks into real estate. So, therefore, not only cities have made bad choices but households too.

I say let's get over what made us rich in the past as a city as far as the plaza; Yes, concentrate on it, but don't just obsess over it and let's continue to slowly recover in spite of it. Are we not more than "one dimensional"? We can. I know we can. It just takes good team work which we need badly. Let's get rid of what separates us from one another called "politics" and focus on what keeps us "united".

9:20 2/15 You are suppose to get answers from your aldermen. Ask them to fill you in on what is being done and ask them what we should do. Give them your input and let them do their jobs. Hopefully, we have picked people who will get the city rolling again.

My suggestion is to keep active in the process. Give input to your elected officials. Promote Crestwood. Shop Crestwood. We have a lot to offer.

12:41 PM blogger: Correct, as long as we stay on top of this it will get done!

Stay active, call and visit your Alderman, and let em know what you want. Tell them we believe in them, and we are waiting to see the results of our trust in them.

Do you think aldermen vote according to their own conscience? Because I notice that the 2 ward 2 Aldermen and 1 from Ward 1 always vote the same way? When there is never any deviating from this pattern, is one to think that the people in Ward 1 and 2 all think alike, too and not a thing like the people in Ward 3 and 4? What insurance do I have these men would change their stance based on constituant input?????
