Not about Crestwood, but very interesting to say the least!

No matter where you come down on the Presidential race, you should know all there is to know about the candidates to make an informed decision. To that end I will post, from time to time, bio's on the candidates, and their wives for your information, starting with Cindy McCain.

This is an interesting article as not much was known about her. She was on Leno the other night and it was an interesting interview. It turns out that she is a character as she is or has been a race car driver and is also a pilot. She flies John around the country to his rallies. After hearing that about her and reading this I now have a lot of respect for her. This information is confirmed by Snopes.

Election 2008: Cindy Hensley McCain has been disparaged as a trophy wife, a Barbie, an heiress with fancy purses, even the Paris Hilton of politics. But there's more to the picture than meets the eye. Yes, Mrs. McCain is the perfectly coiffed blonde standing dutifully behind the Senator during his speeches. And yes, she wears stylish clothing and carries a Prada purse. And it's true she doesn't say much. But feminist critics who write her off as a 'stand-by-your-man' shrinking violet are selling her short. In many ways, Cindy McCain stacks up sturdier than Hillary Clinton or Michelle Obama. And she'd make a more impressive first lady.

While Obama's wife has been hating America , complaining about the war and undermining our troops serving in Afghanistan , McCain's wife has been worrying about her sons who actually are fighting or planning to fight in the war on terror. One, in fact, was until a few months ago, deployed in Iraq during some of the worst violence. You don't hear the McCain's talk about it, but their 19-year-old Marine, Jimmy, is preparing for his second tour of duty.

Their 21-year-old son, Jack, is poised to graduate from Annapolis and also could join the Marines as a second lieutenant. The couple made the decision not to draw attention to their sons out of respect for other families with sons and daughters in harm's way. Cindy also says she doesn't want to risk falling apart on the campaign trail talking about Jimmy who was so young when he enlisted she had to sign consent forms for his medical tests before he could report for duty and potentially upsetting parents of soldiers who are serving or have been killed.

The McCain's want to make sure their boys get no special treatment. Same goes for their five other children, including a daughter they adopted from Bangladesh During a visit to Mother Teresa's orphanage there, Cindy noticed a dying baby. The orphanage could not provide the medical care needed to save her life. So she brought the child home to America for the surgery she desperately needed. The baby is now their healthy, 16-year-old daughter, Bridget. Though all seven McCain children including two Sen. McCain adopted from his first marriage are supportive of their father, they prefer their privacy to the glare of the campaign trail. Another daughter, Meghan, 23, helps him behind the scenes.

Cindy McCain not only cherishes her children, but also her country, which in an election year filled with America-bashing, is a refreshing novelty. She seethed when she heard Michelle Obama's unpatriotic remarks that she only recently grew proud of America . 'I am very proud of my country,' Mrs. McCain asserted.

She also may be tougher than the other women in the race. While Hillary 'thinks' she's come under sniper fire on mission trips abroad, Cindy has actually seen violence. She witnessed a boy get blown up by a mine in Kuwait during a trip with an international group that removes land mines from war-torn countries.

Mrs. McCain also is a hands-on philanthropist. She sits on the board of Operation Smile, which arranges for plastic surgeons to fix cleft palates and other birth defects. She also has helped organize relief missions to Micronesia . During a scuba-diving vacation to the islands, Mrs. McCain took a friend to a local hospital to have a cut treated. She was shocked, and saddened, by what she saw. 'They opened the door to the OR, where the supplies were, and there were two cats and a whole bunch of rats climbing out of the sterile supplies,' she recalled. 'They had no X-ray machine, no beds. To me, it was devastating because it was a U.S. trust territory.' As soon as she returned home, she arranged for medical equipment and teams of doctors to be sent to treat the island children.

Michelle Obama may contribute to CARE, which fights global poverty and works to empower poor women. Cindy sits on its board.

Boy Tom, I give you credit for sticking your neck out on this one. Good luck on getting your information out there. You should already know that there will be bashing going on big time on this comment.

It's bad enough talking about Crestwood. When you start talking about our Country and the candidates, you better watch what you say cause people in this town will chew you up in a heartbeat.

Good luck. I think I will just sit this one out. Personally I think you are a glutton for punishment.

11:30 AM blogger; Unfortunately your right! Bashing is a pass time with some who post here, but not to worry, I will be doing Bio's on Michelle Obama next, and then the Candidates.

You see this will be an equal opportunity spot to like, dislike, love, hate, abhor, or whatever flips their crank!

The idea of a "BLOG" is to get the ball rolling and let the bloggers do the rest, so without further adieu.

Wow, I'm impressed with Mrs. McCain. She is a very rich girl all on her own so she could be just sitting on a satin pillow eating bon bons. I think she will be a perfect first lady as is Laura Bush.

"Ideological descendents of Marx and Rosseau now lead the democratic party and they have turned it into a disloyal opposition to an increasingly accomadating GOP. They have molded the party into a force working stridently and unashamedly against a Commander in chief during wartime. They have made it into a den of treachery devoted to American defeat in Iraq. They preside over an institution advised and influenced by moneyed non-governmental groups and individuals with unquestionably anti-U.S. agendas who help make the party a psuedo-intellectual sinkhole filled with perverse tried and failed ideas repulsive to the majority of Americans. Those ideas are shaped into agendas which are then forced on the public by an activist leftwing judiciary and by a club for the illegitmately aggrieved, the self-absorbed, the self-hating and the perpetualy angry. It is a sanctuary where solopistic malcontents and their disjointed causes find refuge and support. It has long ceased being an earnest gathering of broad minds where man's timeless problems are examined against the backdrop of the Constitution and solutions to them proposed based on the actual realities of the human condition. Barack Obama is in step with that radical element and with that leadership."

Tom, I too will sit this one out. This is afterall "The Crestwood Independent" and until and when our local situations take on a sunnier stance, and there is no room for "conversationl growth" in this regard, I just find additional angst regarding national elections and politics a step beyond what this so-called local blog is intended. To take this political leap onto the national scene, which changes daily, needs another stage.

Between FOX,CNN, MSNBC; the Sunday Shows, the Internet, Drudge, Huffington, various newspapers etc. I am enlightened a-plenty. Frequently, a dose of local chatter, as this blog, puts everything in perspective. I actually hope you change your mind and keep this blog completely local. Our city at this time does not need national politics on a local blog to distract us from matters at hand on our city scene. After reading both the rosy bios of the possible first ladies, I think we can agree both are nice, capable, pretty, fashionable, smart and acceptable and would compliment our nation. Period!

3:23 PM blogger: Well, I did what I said I would do, and posted both sides (wives only) for everyone to become informed.

We shall now go back to "the local stuff." Such as my wife calling the Police department to inquire what time the Carnival (on Crestwood Courts lot) opened yesterday (so we could take our grandson.) The dispatcher didn't know there was a carnaval there! Do we need better communication's here, or what?

I agree Tom. The blog should stay about Crestwood. Nice information on the first ladies but they wouldn't be leading our country, one of their husband's will.

I think it was nice of you, but national politics have separated families and I should know cause my family argued politics all the time when I was a youngster. I am an oldster now and can still remember it well.

Let's just hope and pray we have a strong leader and leave it go at that.

Thanks.
