"NOT FOR PROFIT GROUPS" bid for South County licence office!

The operative words here are "not for profit!" Please click on the article and you will notice that our own "Sappington House foundation" is one of the ones trying to land a deal in South County! Read a bit further on and you will find that none other than Mayor Roy Robinson will be a part of it as a "director!"

Now I could not care less what the Sunset Hills Historical Society, or their mayor do, but as for the Sappington Society, and Roy, well if they can do something like this as a "not for profit," well they can stop charging me for the Sappington House today!

As you may know the Sappington House is a part of our budget for maintainability, and we have the code enforcement officer living there FREE of charge, and getting $100.00 per month to do it!

Now they are going after a license agency (a very lucrative deal,)well Roy and the Board,it's time they paid their own way! You speak of cut's, well this is sure one that can be made today!

Please don't forget they have a $500,000.00 kitty, which you show as an asset on our books (it can't be touched,)so the money is there, right?

I await your leadership on this Ladies and Gentlemen of the Board, let's see you stand up for Crestwood for a change, and rid us of this ridiculous burden for once and for all!

If the $500,000 can't be touched then how can it be shown as assets? Sounds like a bit of smoke and mirrors with the old city budget, AGAIN!

11:58 PM blogger: Either "smoke and mirrors," or the old "I will gladly pay you Tuesday for a hamburger I can have today!"

If you and I went to a bank with an "asset" like that and borrowed money, well, Leavenworth here we come!

Ain't creative book keeping grand!

Pleased you are looking our for our city, the non profit venture you wrote about was set up to help historical cites and was organized by the head of a Local Historical Society just honored by the Chamber as the years most outstanding Citizen, he is a Sunset Hills resident, and as far as I can see he wants to fund historical locations.

It seems our BOA has eight elected residents serving, five are brand new (62.5% of BOA) these 5 new votes are enough to control the BOA.

Two are serving second terms in office (25% of BOA).

One has served less than one term (12.5% of BOA).

The BOA members now serving were not involved in the past events (1999 through 2005) which led to our current problems.

Is it time for someone to explain to the residents the current new members have enough votes to control the BOA it seems to be the American way to give the new guys & girls a chance.

What do you propose as an action agenda for the BOA and how will it help our rapidly decaying city?

There are no new revenue streams available to Crestwood we are forced to pay by cutting services to fit a decreasing cash flow till 2011 or beyond .
We are fighting to survive, we have excellent men serving as CA and Finance Manager (Audit Firm stated 2008 City budget Audit results were outstanding) but even with clear accounting records no one can pay the bills with thin air.

Any ideas?

Any Ideas? Yes, I do have a couple at that.

1. Transfer ownership of the Sappington House to St. Louis County.

2. Retire the animal control officer with full pay to 12/31/09, and save on the gas, maintenance, and liability of having her vehicle on the street.

3. Instruct ALL Dept. heads to revise thier budget down for 2009/10.

4. Cut back on the hours of service at White cliff Park.

5.Rescind the two salary increases given to two Dept. Heads until they complete their required education to fill the positions.

In 2011 Kohls will be on line for full taxes when the TIF, TDD, CID is over, and by some estimates that may bring in close to $200,000.00. Also we will have the White cliff complex paid off in 2012, so that is worth at least $985,000.00 to us.

You see we only need to scrimp on services for a year or two, and then with proper management, we can be back in the black.

Tom,
I agree with your cuts numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, and would agree with 3 if the Police, and Fire depts. are not cut any more.

Questions-

I read on another blog post that the C/A has a new assistant. Does anyone have any information about that?

The code enforcement officer drove a Maroon Lumina. What happened to that? I saw a fairly new Crown Vic in the parking lot. Has the Lumina been replaced? I might have missed it, I don't know.

If the foundation gets this office, will Crestwood still have to spend money on the Sappington House? According to a South County Times article late last year, the city spends $23,500 annually.

Why?

I've been there three times and each of those times, I was not impressed. Friends, neighbors, and business associates who have been there were not impressed either. But don't take my word for it. Each time you drive by, look at the parking lot and count how many cars you see.

W H A T? What do you mean by rapidly decaying city? Why I thought we are flush with cash!

We just passed a sales tax holiday!!!

We gave raises!!!

We have a beautiful new parking lot and sign paid for by a Kohl's TDD.

On top of that, an organization has put in a bid for a license office to help fund Sappington House!!!

So, with all of that in mind, in wake of the Mehlville proposals, I ask the BOA to put on the next ballot a TAX DECREASE proposal!!!
Even Charlie Dooley is talking about cutting taxes!

Tax Decrease in Crestwood! The time has come.

Tom:

The Kohl's TDD and CID are not gong to bring in a dime to fund the police or fire department. You don't know a TIF from a CID or TDD to save your life!
