Mr. Mike Anthony of the Call opines on the Mayors little gaff with the Charter. (click here for the excellent op/ed.)

Like most of us who live and work in Crestwood our local Newspaper, the Call in the form of an excellent editorial by Mr. Mike Anthony wonders what the heck our Mayor is doing? Has "His Honor" so little a grasp of the City Charter that he would willfully violate it? Or does he put his mouth in gear before his brain is engaged?

I tend to think that it's the latter as we have seen this time and again coming from this man who would be King. Let's wander down the path of "Roy isms" and see if this is indeed the case. "Neighboring City's shoot stray dogs," It's Robinson's rules of order, not Roberts," "I run this City!" And we could go on but you get the drift.

Now however he has crossed the line and accused Alderman Paul Duchild of doing something nefarious, forget the fact that the Charter calls for Alderman Duchild to do it! Alderman Miguel asked for a clarification, "His Honor" refused it, and continued to pontificate (unfortunately "His Honor" was wrong as usual.)

We have a major problem in Crestwood in that the law firm of Lewis, Rice and Fingerish undertook to pen the MOU for the Firefighters (under someones direction) minus ANY of our elected officials attending. Couple that with the fact that the City Attorney, Mr. Rob Golterman was out of that loop, wasn't there for the negations (so it seems) and suddenly we have a crew from a law firm running the City, none of whom we elected or, even know!

The Call has asked for the censure of Mayor Robinson, and I agree whole heartedly
. I would however like to further call for the resignation of the City Attorney, and answers from his firm as to why our people were not there.

I want to know WHO authorized the law firm to draw these negotiation papers up, why we spent more money (close to $4,000.00) on the Civil Service rules, and WHO authorized that to happen and why. And while were at it, Mr. Kurt Becker (Firefighters union) seemed very surprised that this Civil Service deal was voted down. Why would that be, was he promised that the Board would go along with it? And if so by whom?

Times are hard enough as it is without spending needless funds at lawyers or for that matter anywhere else. A couple of FOIA Forms will be in the works soon and we shall see if answers are forthcoming, or if our City Attorney Say's "I can't recall!"

I never say much here, but I have to on this one. I know I am going against the general consensus here that Mike Anthony walks on water, but I wish he would shut up. Honestly, this constant busting our chops in Crestwood is getting old. Does he live here and is using the paper for his own private bullypulpit? Or does he just have some kind of ax to grind? I realize we have problems here, as does every city on earth, but come on, enough with the Crestwood bashing. I happen to like my little city and am darned sick of seeing Mr. Anthony rip it to shreds every 3 minutes.

The editorials are opinions and nothing more.

While I agree Crestwood receives its share of criticism I rarely read an opposite opinion so something must be on target.

Crestwood receives its share and then some. It's just getting really old. If Mr. Anthony hates what goes on here, I suggest he live elsewhere.

He has a major sized axe to grind. Not so much with Crestwood, but more so with Roy. I feel that he doesn't have much depth and Roy at times is an easy target. The mayor is not a silver tongued fox that can charm the pants off you. He's just a good old boy. Sometimes right and sometimes wrong but always the later with Mike and Tom.

Mr.Anthony doesn't live in Crestwood.
Mr.Anthony has a right to express his opinion.
Mr Anthony signs his name to his opinions.
Anonymous can write letters to the CALL to express their opinion about Mr. Anthony, the Mayor, or for that matter just about anything they want.
BUT, they have to sign their name and provide their address if they want their opinion published.

I agree with Mr. Anthony's opinion.
I believe that the Charter of Crestwood requires it's BOA call for a vote to censure the Mayor for his violation of the Charter.
I believe that to not do so is a violation of the Charter by the BOA.
I believe the Mayor has is a silver tonged fox who will try to charm the pants off you, that his good ole boy persona is just a front.

Nothing against Mr. Anthony. He calls them as he sees them. Roy is such an easy target; slow news week, there is always Roy. Nothing new at Lindbergh, OK there is always Crestwood and Roy. We are proud citizen's of Crestwood's town clown.

When I read the Kirkwood-Webster TIMES, there are always lots and lots of letters from readers. All good, all pertinent. When I read our version, Gravois-Watson, there are few and far between.

The K-W residents are in tune with their locale and write extremely good letters. The G-W residents are just not responsive. This is upsetting. But if it looks like voters just don't care or are not in the know, then gov't and residents lose. Editors point this out, rightfully `Pick up the K-W TIMES somewhere, sometime and see what I mean. Then react to the conditions of our city. You have everything to gain. Letters to the Editor can be informative and and be persuasive to officials.

2:25 PM Blogger: Correct in every respect my friend. I really wish we would see more letters to the Call, and here as all of us enjoy good comments.
