Sarah Palin wows audience in Wisconsin (click here for the story.)

I would like to read your thoughts on this weekend get together. I have no dog in this fight, but I do believe it will be most interesting to see just how Crestwoodians react to this.

Comments please (and remember, no nasty language.)

2:49 PM Blogger; You may be correct, but then she draws a crowd no matter where she goes. The President has to set one up way in advance, and then it's iffy.

It's going to be fun watching this play out over the next few months.

well, then who is the Reublican party going to run? Trump? His corporate greed embodies all that is wrong with this country. Palin? she won't get past the primaries. So who does that leave? Perhaps Mitt Romney...?

7:58 AM Blogger: I have no idea, if I do find out I will place the name here. By the way a little less "everything for everybody," and a little more corporate thinking is what this Republic needs to survive !

Did you see today that the Standard and Poor rating for America is about to be downgraded to double A ?

Great job Obama, Gietner, pelosi, just spend a bit more, print some more money, and were finished !

By the way your portfolio doesn't have bonds on it does it ? If so, well, good luck I hear the Rev. Larry Rice will take you in if he isn't out of business by then.

Oh my goodness, I left the "e" off. I assume your perfection is beyond reproach. I notice you said nothing about corporatE greed, though, as it pertains to the current discussion. The fact is that Trump embodies everything that's wrong with big business in America. He has had to file bankruptcy for serveral of his businesses while retaining millions for himself. CorporatE greed. This country doesn't need any more greedy millionaires throwing employees who earned it for them under the bus. That mindset got us into this recession mess.

And, if I may add, Obama is not too far from historic unemployment rates. It soared to 9.7 percent under Reagan and everyone seemed very happy to give him the time to work on getting it down. Why so judgemental about this unemployment rate? It's slowly going down as we pull out of the recession, just like in the 80's. Is the difference that Obama is a Democrat? Or something more?

Katie Couric, Charlie Gibson, Brian Williams and a tough old Marine Sergeant were captured by Islamists in Afghanistan. The leader of the Islamists told them he’d grant each of them a last request before they were beheaded and dragged naked through the streets.

Katie Couric said, “Well, I’d like to record a goodbye to my family.”

Charlie Gibson said, “I’d like to do the same.”

Brian Williams said, “I’m a reporter to the end. I’d like to take that tape recorder and describe the scene here and what’s about to happen. I’m a reporter until the end.”

The leader turned and asked, “And you, Mr.Marine, what is your final wish? ”

“Kick me in the a#$,” said the Marine.

“What?” asked the leader.

“You heard me. I want you to kick me in the a#$,” insisted the Marine.

So the leader shoved him to the ground and kicked him in the a#$.

The Marine went sprawling, rolled to his knees, pulled a 9 mm pistol from inside his cammies and shot the leader dead.

He emptied a second sidearm on six terrorists, then with his knife he slashed the throat of one, took his AK-47 and sprayed the rest of the terrorists.

In a flash, all of them were dead.

As the Marine was untying Couric, Gibson, and Williams, they asked him, “Why didn’t you just shoot them all in the first place? Why did you ask him to kick you in the a#$?”

“What?” replied the Marine, “and have you a#$holes report that I was the aggressor?”

well, for starters, entering us into 2 wars was pretty arrogant. The arrogance of Bush and Cheney both, having the sheer gaul to publicaly state what "we" should be doing differently. They made this God awful mess, then want to stand away from it and judge what's happening now. That's like pouring oil on the sidewalk, robbing the bank, then standing back and making fun of the cops for falling as they chase the bad guys. That is the epitome of arrogance.

The constant threats to filibuster anything the Democrats(or anyone who isn't in lock step with them)propose is also insanely arrogant. The notion, so prevalent in Crestwood, that because YOU don't like it, that everyone should be stripped of it is beyond arrogant. Here, it shows up with issues of animal control, Sappington House, and any number of other things that are deemed "inappropriate". It is arrogantly dictated that no one should enjoy the services or items because YOU decided it should not be the case any longer. Arrogance. Raging, self serving arrogance.

7:05 PM Blogger: Well if YOU want to pay for duplicate, and unneeded programs YOU can do so.

It is far from arrogance to filibuster programs that would (and have) bankrupted us just as it is not arrogance to not wish to pay for things we don't need !

A very wise and well respected woman once said "the problem with liberals is that sooner or later they run out of other peoples money," and she was right !

Again I ask YOU why YOU haven't figured out a way to fund these local projects minus the taxpayer money ? It can and should be done YOU know, so get with YOUR group of ? and figure it out as most of us are tired of the waste !

precisely my point. Since you have decided it's waste, it is now worthless and must be removed from everyone. Who made you king of the world?? Who gave you the power to decide what's waste and what's of value?

IS this really what the majority of the tax payers want their money spent on. Support of Sappington House, animal control etc. certainly cannot be classified as the price for government which is what tax money is supposed to used for.

If you consider those specifics as necessary then the price is too expensive. I do not like my tax money used for the unique purposes of a small lobbying group.

Obtain the funding from others of similar thinking and leave the tax payer money to pay for infrastructure, police, fire.

Last time I looked that's how democracy works: money funds many programs, for the benefit of all. It's not socialism. The US has been functioning this way forever. Perhaps everyone doesn't like every program. So what? You do like many of them, and you aren't the sole decider of what others do or what services are offered to them. See? Arrogance.

8:45 PM Blogger: I have been waiting for you to understand this forum, but alas I guess I will have to explain it to you.

This is a "weblog," AKA a Blog. I set up the site (I ALSO PAY FOR IT) and, I say what I think and I graciously allow you to say what you think, that's how it works.

What I think is just that, unlike progressive / liberals I do not try to make it "Gods word," just how personally I feel, period.

You get to agree or disagree as you see fit. Now one thing that bothers me is that whenever the words "progressive / liberal" are mentioned you seem to act like Dracula as the sun come up. Why is that ?

Are you too ashamed to say that that's where your feelings lie ? I have told you I am a Tea Party conservative, I am not ashamed to say that, so why not admit that your on the opposite side of the political spectrum ?

You seem to want to rail against anything that reins in socialist programs, and yet you don't want to admit that is your belief, why ?

Notice I could say all that minus any personal attacks ? Let's see what your response will be, can you do likewise ?

What in the heck are you talking about? You're leaping from topic to topic. So, because you pay for this blog somehow that gets you to my not being able to accept my word isn't law? That is ridiculous, and shows that you completely missed the point I was trying in vain to make: Your opinion, on this blog or not, doesn't speak for or represent everyone else's, no matter what you feel the need to say. Be a Tea Bagger all you want, you still don't get to decide anything alone, and you don't speak for all 300 million people in this country.

And, in keeping with your impromtu history lesson, I will add to it. Democracies and Republics actually overlap.Democracy means"rule of the people", and there are 2 kinds of democracies: direct and representative. What distinguishes a representative democracy is that the government is elected. Technically, the former Soviet Union was a representative democracy, because its officials were elected. Over the last 200 years we have trended toward being a democratic republic. The reason many state that we are still a republic, as you did, is that, in 1789, when the first government met, it was a republic in that only white males were allowed to vote. The constitution was written to allow the ruling, elite class to maintain power by leaving who could vote largely to the states, and that's who could vote in most states.

Dear Chick Magnet,

Some interesting facts from Crestwood's most recent election.

Roy lost the vote in all 4 Wards.
Roy lost in all 7 polling places.

Poll Roy % Jeff %
901 23.4 76.6
904 30.6 69.4
905 38.1 61.9
906 34.0 66.0
913 30.9 69.1
924 39.1 60.9
928 39.0 61.0

"All the Mayor's firemen
and all his few friends,
couldn't get Roy
elected again."

I actually didn't intend to refute you. I intended to clarify, which is exactly what I did. The fact that you won't acknowledge that is not my problem. I actually said we are a democratic republic, which is, if you'll check, a variety of a republic. So I was partially agreeing with you. I have voted both parties in my life, fyi. And as for your apparent need to "live" in other people's heads, well, all I can say is I'm sure there's treatment out there for that somewhere. And I notice you still haven't answered the fact that you seem to think yours is the only viable opinion on earth. That tells me an awful lot. But who cares what I think? You pay for the blog, so we'll all just go back to agreeing with you.

Tom can give out any message he wants but we all have the brain matter to make up our own minds. We are not sheep, we are human beings and if Tom only wants this blog to become a clandestine union of all those who agree with what he says, as you do, well then you give him too much credit.

All people who feel that only one person or one group of people need to listen to what Tom says because he is infallable - well David Karesh and Jonestown come to mind.
