Brentwood Firefighters compensated for time they didn't earn! (Click here for the story please.)

This "sham" time payout has been going on for twenty four years over in Brentwood, and "it just came to light" after an audit of the City Administrators computer a couple of months ago.

Mr. Kurt Becker of Firefighters Local 2665 is quoted as saying that as soon as he knew about it he realized that he needed to work for the City to make it right. Now that is the right thing to do for certain but, how did it take twenty four years for ANYONE in Brentwood to "just become aware of the anomaly?"

I wonder if any of the Firefighters we saw at the last election working the poll's were on "overtime" from Brentwood, and would anyone tell us if they were, and if not why not?

At any rate Mr. Becker has done the right thing in coming down on the side of Brentwood, and you can't help but give him the credit for it. I for one am very happy that we have the oversight in place to insure this NEVER happens in Crestwood, we do don't we?

(Memo to Alderman Duncan, Beezley, Pickel, and Foote. This is one reason why the auditors we hired requested we have an oversight of ALL Crestwood funds, including the Sappington House Foundation funds that Crestwood doesn't have access to but remain an ASSET (?) on our books. Not because they or anyone else think there is a problem, but rather to insure there never will be.)

how is this in any way related to Crestwood? Just an opportunity to further jab at the aldermen you dislike? This post makes no sense to me at all. Please explain.

4:20 PM Blogger: Your kidding right?

"I would love to believe you, but to do so would be an insult to your intelligence." (GBS)

It relates to a great lack of oversight on the part of..... Thats how!

By the way I don't need a reason to "jab" those Alderman, they give the opportunity to all of us every time they have a meeting.

4:20 Have to agree with you assessment. Tom is like a scavenger fish. In order to find something he can sink his teeth in, he will go down to the bottom of the barrel to get it and stir up trouble.

I believe Tom was posting this more as a cautionary tale and not for its relationship to Crestwood.

As it turns out, though, there are two people in this story who are linked to Crestwood: Kurt Becker, head of local 2665 (which includes Crestwood firefighters) and Chris Hesse, the attorney who did work for Crestwood and submitted non-itemized bills to the city (approved by then city administrator Don Greer) for tens of thousands of dollars.

9:51 and 10:07 Blogger's: Why do you read this Blog anyway? It does seen to have a "Svengali" effect on both of you though.

The problem with you two is that your trying to "parry and thrust" in a verbal joust with me, with nothing but simplistic "anonymous" remarks that everyone knows come from either cowards or fools or both!

That said, keep posting, we all need some humor in our meager lives.

Here is an answer to your question. No, firefighters working polls are not compensated. They probably weren't even Brentwood firefighters. And to Mrs. Duchild. The reference to Kurt Becker was a positive one. The IAFF is not about scamming money from cities. You associated with the story like the IAFF was in on it.

4:29 PM Blogger: I believe I worked a shift at the polls with a Brentwood Firefighter at the school on Eddie and Park & Sappington Rd.

Glad you had the answer as I didn't ask him if he was being paid to hand out his literature.

Where in my statement did I say anything about the IAFF being in on anything? The first poster asked how the story was related to Crestwood, I explained that it was probably posted as a cautionary tale. I also pointed out, contrary to the first poster's claim of no relation to Crestwood, that in fact there were two connections, and Kurt Becker was one of them.

So again, I ask, how could you possibly have inferred from my statement that I thought the IAFF was about scamming money from cities or that the IAFF was "in on it?"

The firefighter I talked to at the polls last April was from Brentwood or Clayton. And a city worker from Brentwood was there also - working for Roy.

For those of you who have had their head in the sand, Mr. Kurt Becker has been rather active in Crestwood politics. But that's ok...let's buy some more police cars...
