Crestwood Courts a better place for the Walmart super center? Ms. Celia Kneip thinks so. (click here for her letter to the South County Times.)

Ms. Kneip makes a lot of sense with her reasons to have the Wall Mart that some in Shrewsbury do not want relocate to Crestwood Courts. Of course we have no say in this matter, but if the argument against the store in Shrewsbury continues the owners of Crestwood Courts may wish to take a look.

One small problem for the Courts is that we cannot afford to give out any more tax incentives like TIF, CID, or TDD's to the developer as were tax increment poor as we speak.

At any rate we do have at least one citizen concerned with economic development in Crestwood, so please join me in congratulating Ms. Kneip for a good idea, workable or not!

saw that and I agree. Alderman Miguel would have a field day, though, talking it to death like he does all new businesses that want to come into Crestwood.

10:28 PM Blogger: I think you may have Alderman Miguel's motives a little bit wrong here.

True he does go into depth on a new business, and true he does talk it out completely, but there is a method to his madness so to speak.

I served with him on the P&Z commission and I know him to be a very through and methodical person who only wants the best use of the available space in Crestwood.

To me Alderman Miguel has one of the best minds on the Board, and he displays that trait at each and every Board meeting.

Problem with this is the current conversion of the Kirkwood store into a super center.

Forget Wal-Mart unless the City is willing to discuss TIF, CID etc. The cost to tear down Crestwood Court vs what Wal-Mart pays in rent will make it possible for the owners of mall. Would Wal-Mart consider the location with their Kirkwood Store? Yes, if the deal in Shrewsberry falls through.

The Kirkwood store is too close. Forget about Wal-Mart in Crestwood. Who would want it to be honest. I still want an IKEA here - but I bet Fenton will jump all over this with all the space they have at the old Chrysler Plant location.

Has anyone besides me noticed that "Northwest Plaza" is going up for auction on Monday?

The starting price is said to be 1.5 Million, a far cry from the 17 Million the current owners paid for it and a heck of a lot cheaper that the original cost!

This tells me that the 'Courts" are a very long way away from becoming a retail magnet in the near future.

Very sad indeed.

No no no...the best thing that could happen to Crestwood Courts is that we level it and make it a big parking lot for more police cars.

9:58 Police cars seem to be stuck somewhere on you or in you, I don't know which. You have sarcastically mentioned them under two blog comments, correct me if I'm wrong. Can you please explain. I would appreciate it. Are we still angry at the police even though we are suppose to be discussing Crestwood Courts? This issue doesn't need people like you blowing off some unsolved. unresolved or upsetting angst you seem to have. Stick to the subject.
