Reverend Joe Wright opens the Kansas House of Representatives with a prayer.

From a reader who thought all of us would like to hear the Pastors prayer in the Kansas State House. I have seen this before, but now is a great time to share it considering the current state of the Nation.

Thought you might enjoy this interesting
prayer given in Kansas at
the opening session of their House of Representatives (January, 1996.) It seems
prayer still upsets some
people.. When Minister Joe Wright was asked to open
the new session of the Kansas House, everyone was expecting the usual generalities, but this is what they heard:

"Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask
your forgiveness and to seek your direction and
guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those
who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we
have done.

We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed
our values.

We have exploited the poor and called it
the lottery.

We have rewarded laziness and called it
welfare..

We have killed our unborn and called it
choice.

We have shot abortionists and called it
justifiable.

We have neglected to discipline our
children and called it
building self esteem....

We have abused power and called it
politics.

We have coveted our neighbor's possessions
and called it ambition.

We have polluted the air with profanity and
pornography and called it
freedom of expression.

We have ridiculed the time-honored values
of our forefathers and called it
enlightenment.

Search us, Oh, God, and know our hearts
today; cleanse us from every sin and set us free.
Amen!"

Tom, I loved this. The Rev. really tells it like it is and, as usual, some of our Kansas politicians couldn't wrap their brain around the truth.

When we begin to open up our minds and humbly realize that there are those persons of importance, people who we have elected who have become self-serving, who will try to justify their ill deeds by sugar-coating distorted words - we surely know that - Pastor Joe Wright knew exactly what to pray for.

Thanks.

Dave,
Did you see the prayer before the NASCAR race last week?
The BAPTIST pastor started with
"Dear God I first want to thank you for giving me my very hot wife." He didn't take a breath and finished the prayer without missing a beat. The crowd and drivers went crazy.

Thank God for a few men who still have the courage of their convictions. I only hope and pray we have enough of these types to save us from those who would take us over.
