Group forces Congressional hearings on 1st. amendment rights. (please click here for the story.)

No matter which side of the coin your on, this is a development that cannot be ignored.

Our Constitution mandates the right of free speech and public decent with some exception's, and now we see that the current Government would usurp those rights for reasons that are not At all clear.

Fortunately we see that a private group has launched an investigation of their own into these possible civil rights violations, and apparently none too soon.

Stay tuned to this one folks, it's your freedom and liberty that is at stake here as if one pillar falls, can the rest be far behind?

And anything we post on this site.

Tom, all these sites are public web site accessible to anyone (including this blog!)
While I do wonder if it is a waste of government resources to pay someone to read the newspapers, and look at news, and other websites, I don't see how this would violate free speech, or expectation of privacy laws.

Now if we were in your front yard, and I whispered a secret in your ear, and there was an FBI guy hiding in your bushes listening, that wouldd be a violation of several laws!

Well, as far as our first amendment rights are considered - it seems that with the Presidential election and the hiring of our new CA -- this blog is as hot as a firecracker. Further, just like OBama it seems that Eastman is on everybody's list as far as her position on every issue in Crestwood these days.

I am so confused and have heard so many different stories from so many different people, I don't know who or what to believe.

To me to go in front of the board of aldermen and ask for the resignation of the CA was wrong. I am sure she has a contract with the city that was signed, sealed and delivered to the Mayor and Board. That said, she has not been in the city long enough to let her go or to be fired. So, if that is true (most people are placed on probation six months), we in Crestwood can expect another lawsuit. Since we are broke anyway - why are we not giving Eastman the allotted time to fit into her job.

All this bickering we have heard - she has never defended herself; therefore, we are not hearing the otherside of the story. I don't know but it seems wrong to me. If the mayor hired her, he must at least give her time to learn things. Good Gravy - every time I turn around it's the same thing.

Well, all I can say is - we better have all our ducks in a row before we fire the CA because if we don't do things according to her contract, this city might have to be dessolved completely to pay for her lawsuit.

To have anyone go up to the mayor and board of aldermen and ask for her dismissal better have all his facts backed up. If that person feels comfortable saying that, he may be the first one called at her trial.

I am just saying...... Better watch out what you wish for.....

How can anybody be so sure. I for one want to here the other side of the story.

12:29 PM blogger: Sandy, if you go by her contract (which was a colossal mistake in my opinion,) she has 18 months.

She has used 5, so when does she start to assimilate into our way of doing things?

Just what we need another lawsuit scenario caused by a erroneous firing... No doubt they will pay her the balance of her contract...etc...

Sandy, I agree with you on that!

"All this bickering we have heard - she has never defended herself;"

She should not have to defend herself...it would be a waste of her (and the cities) time and money. She should, and is doing the job she was hired to do.

If she were not, it would be up to the mayor, and aldermen to solve the problem.

6:12 PM Blogger: Don't worry about a lawsuit for erroneous firing as I really doubt this Board will ever act in that manor.

I don't want or wish to see anyone terminated from Crestwood but in some cases it would be a 'permanent fix to a problem we created.'

Still in all your concerns reference firing for no reason won't happen, so relax and enjoy the beautiful weather.
