Discounts available to Seniors (like me!)

With the economy being like it is, I wanted to pass on some discounts at various businesses some of which begin at age 50. I have noticed, however, that while this is a general comprehensive list, some of these discounters may differ with their requirements. I hope you can benefit from some of these savings. Getting older is not all bad! (HMMMM)

Ms. Jackie Stock has informed me that the "senior Pass" is available at City Hall for most of these fin stores.

Please see Tina Flowers for the details.

Thanks to Jackie,

So who pays the for the reduction the seniors get, the employees of the company offering them by being paid less, or other customers with higher prices to cover the reduction given the seniors?

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

3:37 PM - Nobody is saying you "have" to take these discounts! So if you have a negative attitude about senior discounts, nobody is forcing you to take advantage of them; but for those who are interested, I think it was nice for Tom to list them.

I agree Sandy about not using, but the question still remains, somebody has to make up the difference when some pay less that others.

3:37 PM Blogger: I am not sure why your losing sleep over the discounts to seniors, but I will happily tell you who is paying for it.

The company offering the discounts is paying for it by lowering their profit margin by whatever percent as a way of thanking seniors for their business.

During the years I was a contractor, I gave the total price to the customer first and then if they were seniors I gave them 10% off the TOTAL as a thank you for doing business with me.

No there is no free lunch but sometimes lunch costs a bit less. Who knows maybe a company will start a "complainer" day worth 10% off so EVERYONE can participate.

I believe Anonymous is just playing with Sandy G. She is so easy to mess with and it is funny to read her responses. But don't worry Tom, you are still number one.

I truly appreciate the list of discounts, and I also appreciate the spirit in which it was delivered. Usually the threads on here are all about grousing and grumping and all things that are wrong. It seems like hate, hate, hate all the time. I really enjoyed seeing a light theme on this thread, so thank you!

Hey 8:31 AM Well I am glad you think I am funny with my responses. But stating I am easy to mess with - NOT! That is if you ever come out of the shadows and I find out who you are - You don't want to mess with me too much! But as long as you choose to hide - you and others can have your field day with your comments about me and others. If you ever sign your name, we can have a discussion one on one like normal people do. Anybody can do what you do and say what you say, as long as they are a coward about it.

Tom is Numero Uno???? Well, it depends on what you mean by that. I have known Tom Ford being a Crestwood resident for years. He knows my husband and does business with him at times. If you want to make a big deal out of it - I really don't give a "flying fig" what you mean by those words, and no explanation is needed. Done!

Thanks Sandy G. You just proved my point.

And what point did I prove? That I am easy to mess with? Well it's hard to know how to decipher words written by people who remains anonymous. It seems other than myself, Martha, and Tom Ford, Trueblood and maybe one other person - everybody else likes to stay anonymous here. The things discussed on this "thread" are suppose to be relevant to our city and it's problems. When anyone decides to "mess with" another blogger - They are not sticking with the reason this blog started in the first place and it doesn't really fit with the criteria.

Tom,

I still read the blog from time to time, but have just about quit posting. The reason is that things have degenerated to the point where only you, me, Sandy, and Martha use an actual name....all the others are " Anonymous " and seem to think it is OK to hide, and insult others as in: 5:28 PM, April 14, 2012.
It is also impossible to follow a conversation, since you can't tell who you are talking to.

11:00 PM Blogger: John, There are those among us who for whatever reason feel the need to hurl insults from the shadows.

In my youth at the Saturday afternoon "shoot em up's" they were called "bush whackers," and not held in great esteem.

Today, not much has changed as far as the esteem part goes, we still see those same personality type's sniping at their neighbors with no name attached, and to a point, that's OK by me.

This or any other Blog would not survive very long if you required them to use their real name, as too many people are either too shy, or (depending on the circumstances) too much of a sniveling coward to do so.

I will not allow personal attacks (verbal jousting is another matter) on this Blog unless the person gives their real name so the person being insulted has a chance to defend themselves, and I believe everyone knows that by now.

I can tell you that being a "thin skinned" person who is easily hurt will not long survive on this or any other Blog because of the so called "bush whackers" so prevalent in today's society.

The only thing I can say John is that I am really glad that you and I did not have to go to "general quarters" (battle stations) with such cowards at our side, as we well may not have been here to write or comment on this Blog.

Well you are very correct, Tom. I can either do one of two things - either refrain from having my say on your blog, or become one of them. Therefore, I decided that rather than give into these cowards, I intend to keep on blogging and they can take a long walk off of a short bridge. Plus if I quit blogging, the poor slobs wouldn't have any more fun. We can't have that now can we?

8:49 AM Blogger: Sandy, take courage from the fact that you are "living rent free" in their heads, and that just infuriates them!

Glad you decided to stay, we need your help to drive some common sense into these fine bloggers who just happen to be, well "shy!"

Given the vindictive nature of some department heads anonimity has distinct advantages,,in Crestwood..
and if you have a beef with your leaders go to the BOA meeting and stand up and tell them.. instead of posting in a blog that has a readership of 12 on a good day..

Well at least he writes a blog, you do not seem to, or maybe we just never heard of it.
