Ward Four Alderman Mr. Dan Tennessen resigns his seat.

http://www.callnewspapers.com/Articles-Impact-News-i-2014-02-26-271370.112112-UPDATED-Crestwood-alderman-who-resigns-cannot-retake-post.html

I have no idea what may have caused this. so I, like the rest of us will wait until the next Board meeting to learn a bit more.

Until then may I strongly suggest that any rumors, conjecture or he said / she said be left where they lie, as we really do not know anything more than he has resigned, period.

To that end please be advised that I will not allow ANY comment's from anyone who will not sign their real name (it will be verified.)

I think we owe it to Mr. Tennessen to allow him to tell his story in his own time, don't you?

My wish for Dan is that in what ever he does in the future, he is successful and happy. While it is not required or needed, I hope that in two weeks Dan does share with us his reason(s) for his resignation.
As President of the BOA, I left a message in Dan's voice mail Saturday(2/22/2014) afternoon asking him to contact me to talk about his action if he so desired. He has not returned my call, which is well with in his right. To the best of my knowledge, no member of the BOA has had contact with Dan in the last 7 days.

All the best to you Dan in your future endeavors.

Doesn't really apply here since Dan admitted he sent the "resignation email", but I would be somewhat curious to see the City Attorney's reasoning. What makes a resignation effective? What if Dan claimed he hadn't sent the email, and his wife or one of his kids in fact did from one of his accounts?

Seems to be that a resignation should be done in person at a meeting, or at least via letter to the mayor and fellow aldermen. I too will wait and see what the circumstances are at the next meeting.

6:25 PM BLOGGER: I believe the City Attorney read the charter, as it covers those sorts of things.

Several things anonymous overs looks.
1. Email was send via City email system, not gmail or hotmail or one of his(Dan)accounts.
2. In 2nd email, Dan refers to having sent and resigned in the 1st email and having spoke with his wife about his action.
3. 1st email sent 2:46 A.M., kids sent it?
4. Dan has never claimed he didn't send the email.
5. Dan told Call reporter in person and was recorded saying that he had resigned.
6. Dan made the resignation effective when he said he was "resigning effective immediately".
7. Dan chose to resign by email at 2:46 a.m. immediately, there is no law regarding how to resign.
8. Dan is over 21 and in good mental and physical health, he said he resigned, he chose the time, he chose the method, he sent the resignation email to all the Aldermen, the Mayor, the City Clerk and the City Attorney.
9. A copy of Dan's resignation email can obtained from the City Clerk by asking.
10. Why isn't this enough for you?

Thanks for the unnecessary, overboard response. I have no problem with the validity of Dan's resignation, but just pointing out that email can be a tricky thing to absolutely rely on depending on future circumstances. Any email account, including the City one, can be left open accidentally on a computer (or can be hacked for that matter). Just suggesting that the City might want to clarify the means by which it will accept resignations--either via letter or open meeting.

7:29 AM Blogger: Things are not as they were a very few years ago. Now you can "sign" loan papers "on line" with out even being there, so I would guess one can certainly resign via email.

Seems to me that this resignation is an answer to what the City will accept, and what it won't, no?

@11:21

I guess everything electronic is the way things are going. Sometimes though it seems doing things the old-fashioned way might be more prudent--people might take a little more time to think about that loan (or to think about whether they really want to resign at 3:00 a.m. :) ).

Harry Truman used to write a letter when he was angry with someone and place it in a drawer till the next day. You know some of those letters were never mailed because he calmed down.

Hard to do when you hit the " send" button!

Have we really come further, or ?

1:37 PM BLOGGER: The ex Alderman was not at the meeting, so............?

He did however give an interview to the Post Disptch I am told, so you may want to look that one up and see if it sheads any more ligh on the resignation.
