This weeks edition of the Suncrestcall newspaper, the Civil Service Board, and the BOA, interesting!

Ladies and Gentlemen, please click on the header to be directed to this weeks Call newspaper. We have some interesting comments from Mr. Burke Wasson reference the Civil Service meetings.

I did not attend the work session, but I am told I missed a good one! I await the comments from Mr. Wasson next week regarding same, as I am told some very interesting remarks were made.

The TDD board meeting for Crestwood Point has been set!

I received a call today telling me that the Crestwood Point TDD meeting (Kohl's parking lot/swimming pool) has been set for Thursday, February 1, 2007 at 3:00PM at City hall.

The caller invited me to pass the information along to as many Crestwood Citizens as I can, hence this post. If you know of someone who does not read this blog (what!) please pass on the information as we need a strong showing in the audience on this important issue!

We have been all over the reasons not to grant the THF Realty the $850,000.00 they are asking for, so I won't belabor them here. Please try to attend and put your thoughts forth!

In the words of Elliot Davis "You paid for it" (if you shop at Kohl's) if this goes through!

Crestwood Point TIF, TDD, meetings have apparently been postponed?

In a rather interesting turn of event's the meetings for the Crestwood Point TDD will not be held next week as I was given to understand. I received an E-mail from Alderman Miguel this morning that stated he was not aware of any meeting scheduled for next week at this time.

I wonder if they (the developer's) haven't been able to pull all the evidence together as to why the $850,000.00 for the "parking lot" should be included? Stand by for further on the date when I receive it, as we must attend this, and voice our opposition to this ill advised expenditure!

January 17, 2007 edition of the Suncrest Call, or why no board minutes from the civil service meeting?

Now this one is a very interesting edition folks! Read the column and editorial by Mr. Burke Wasson. I have never heard of a civil service board meeting, or for that matter any board meeting where no minutes were taken.

It seems the C/A hasn't either, as he said he doesn't have an answer for it either. Well, not only is it like pulling teeth to get a meeting date and time from City hall when it comes to specialized boards (TIF,TDD,CID,) it now appears that this one wasn't publicized very well either!

Someone on this blog once accused me of being fond of quotes, well it's true!

That said, here are a few that I believe can be attached to quite a few people I have known in the past, present, and I am sure the future. As you read these think of the folks you have met that fit the quote, it's sort of fun, and it does bring a bit of levity to our deliberations here!

Churchill

January 4th edition of the Suncrest Call newspaper!

Some interesting articles, and a great letter by Mr. John Foote on public service!

Some have mentioned "senior citizens" as being "costly" to a City, and some have said that "we need younger citizens." Well, your probably right, but we older folks have a tendency to get out and vote, while the younger residents are otherwise occupied.

As of now, we have no-one who has filed for the job of Alderman in any of the four Wards in Crestwood. Will that stand? I doubt it as the last date to file is January 16, 2007.

There are a lot of "anonymous" posters on this blog who would have us believe they have the answers to our problems! If, in fact you do have the answers, please get down to City Hall, put up your five bucks, get twenty signatures, and get on the April ballot!

I have been there before, and I encourage all of you to experience our system, you will learn a lot, and who knows, you just might win!

The TIF, TDD meeting for Crestwood Point is coming soon!

I am given to understand that the week of January 23, 2007 there will be a meeting of the TIF/TDD commission to attempt to finalize the Crestwood Point, Kohl's, parking lot (formally the swim club) bond sales! The commission has hired another firm do a second appraisal as to the worth of the property (in 1998-99,) as it seems that there is not sufficient evidence to support the $850,000.00 pay out for the swim club property appraised at $88,000.00.

I am told that the commission would like to Give some funds to the developer, but cannot justify the full amount, so they have hired a second firm to re-appraise (8-9 years later.)

I have no idea how a section of property appraised for $88,000.00, and then blighted by the City can be re-appraised for a higher value than it was then, but we shall see what this latest development brings.

One thing is for certain, to change anything in this TIF/TDD would require a complete new "Inter Governmental agreement" to be completed, and I believe a new court hearing to grant the new agreement. That said, I understand that they (the commission) would like this all tied up by March, 2007!

The TIF/TDD commission is not required by law to notify us when they meet, so we must be ultra vigilant in order to make sure the Citizens have a voice at this very important meeting!

Folks, it's our money their playing with, so if you want this halted, call your Alderman, the Mayor, and whomever else you can think of, and let's stop this from happening!
